FederationHirogenLet Us Break Some Stuff
Introduction
I decided to follow MVB's advice and seed Voyager and Home Away from Home to get more free plays. I had already planned on Hirogen outpost with Hirogen Hunt to get an Alpha free play as well. Since I knew I should hopefully get two free personnel out each turn, I stuffed my deck with a few more verbs than I normally would consider for Warp Speed.

Round 1HirogenMichael MoskopFL (-30)
Michael was playing all Hirogen. He got Hunt out with the outpost and played Coordinated Effort first turn to have his free plays up and running. All mine were clumped together near the bottom of the deck, so after my first turn, I don't think I had any free plays until turn 4 or 5. I redshirted Hunt Alien and found Your Galaxy is Impure underneath. Fun! So, I decided to go out and attempt Secure Station instead. I cleared it out but ended up with an Ankari "Spirits" on Voyager. Luckily, I had Distortion of Space/Time Continuum in hand, so used it to unstop my crew, go back home and then evacuated Voyager. Next turn, I went back to finish Secure Station with a Venatic Hunter. I was stopped by my own Mission Debriefing, but had another Distortion in hand. This time he Quinned it, so I couldn't get back. By this time, Michael was out and about and solving, so he beat me to the win.

Round 2BorgJason BeyerFW (+60)
Jason decided to see how Borg plays in this format. He built his deck to get a free play from the Unicomplex and one from the Tactical Cube. He had no [Univ] personnel, so The Weak Will Perish completely whiffed (0-2 now). My deck played much better this time, netting me the two free plays each turn. I had extra personnel in hand who played free so I decided to conserve them and get the Villagers and Mission Debriefing out of my hand and face down on the table. This worked well, as I got plenty of people out in my first few turns. Jason made a weird choice in dilemmas, playing Ladyscow and then Distracted by Thoughts of Home. Neither of these really slowed me down, since I had Distortion in my hand when I hit the Scow. I went home, and on my next turn, I sent my whole huge crew down and got through Spatial Rift which was followed by another Distracted.

Round 3VidiianChris LundFW (+60)View opponent's Report
I was talking with Chris on Discord this morning to make sure he knew the venue changed and he told me he hadn't had time to build a deck. I told him that I would be happy to print one of my Warp Speed decks from a recent sealed event. I told him it wouldn't be good, but it would be tournament legal and he said he'd be happy to use that instead not coming at all. That being said, it's a little nerve-wracking playing against your own when you know there's a Kazon Bomb, but you don't know where it is!
I assumed he had placed it under Hunt Alien, since I had shown him how Crisis, Trabe Grenade and it combo nicely. I played a couple of turns and could not get 3 SECURITY out, so decided to go try Secure Station. However, I had not considered that I had one planet mission, which meant he needed to put Medical Crisis there. He played Spatial Rift, then put the Bomb under Secure Station. Luckily enough Astrophysics survived that I got past Gravimetric Distortion and barely finished the mission (only one Alpha Hirogen survived the bomb!). I went back home and started attempting Hunt Alien. I redshirted Karr, who had Leadership and left Janeway on the ship, since I figured I would see Crisis. Karr then found Medical Crisis. I had 3 MEDICAL who all had Biology, so I got through that. I was hoping Hajur would be stopped by Medical Crisis, since he had Leadership, but I was unlucky and he fell to the Trabe Grenade. Once I was through with that, I think I only had Tom Paris left, who couldn't complete, but wasn't stopped. I sent everyone else down to solve.

Closing Thoughts
This is a fun format, but I definitely think the affiliation power is very lopsided. Fed is very good and Full Complement of Shuttles is quite powerful. Right now it feels a bit like the format is already solved. We almost all showed up playing Fed and/or Hirogen. I don't think anyone considered Kazon or Vidiian (see below), even though you can get out about the same number of free plays with them as you can with Hirogen. Jason's Borg deck was really slow since it had to wait to probe when I could blow through dilemmas and solve on a single turn. I think some tweaks to the constructed Warp Speed rules are in order.
Bring back affiliation restrictions for constructed play. There's no reason to be able to mix everyone in constructed.

Ignoring [1e-AU] and [Holo] icons is also unnecessary in constructed. There are Voyager-logo cards that allow you to report [AU] and deal with [Holo]. It would also smooth out some of the more awkward questions we had about that restriction. OTOH, it would probably make the Revised crew more powerful in this format so *shrug*.

Maybe ban Medical Crisis. That card decided me against playing either Kazon or Vidiian, because I knew it would wreck face on them. I felt really bad handing Chris a deck that was mostly Vidiian because of that. I think that getting rid of that card would help balance out the affiliations more.
