I Wanna See the Sun... Blotted Out From the Sky |
Introduction |
I decided to go old school at this coffeehouse redux by remodeling an ancient Borg solver of mine and running it up against two of T2E's newest rookie sensations on their home turf out in Hudson, Wisconsin. True to form, the Borg proved unrelenting despite all the advice I doled out on how to beat them. |

The Hammer was working Cardassian capture, and really put the boots to my Borg by capturing 3 drones and brainwashing 2 more. However, a dilemma misplay at a critical point ultimately cost him a mission and the game. FW 100-15. |
When I saw that I was playing Kris first I thought to myself "Self the time has finally come to pay the piper." Then I noticed he was going to play "The Borg" and I thought let the assimilation begin. However, like Kris had said he was playing "Nice Borg", which was evident given a handful of Borg had smiley faces.
The game itself was quite fun and a great learning experience. As Kris stated, I had made a couple of dilemma goofs. First, I played "He Wasn't Nice" and wasn't even thinking of the "Kill each personnel with that card title", I just thought it was a good way to get rid of the Queen. My other blunder was playing "Coolant Leak" not thinking that most Borg were cost 2. I must admit though it was quite enjoyable to knock a few Borg out an drag them to my brig or "Reprogram" them to serve the will of "MY" collective.
Thanks Kris for the great game and all the pointers you gave me throughout the game. |

Mankind was playing an all Vulcan theme deck, but had ship troubles early and significant skill gaps late. The 21-counter third turn I had certainly didn't help his cause much either, and from there I cruised to victory. FW 100-0. |
My track record against Borg is lousy and as Kris pointed out, I had skill gaps and ship problems. 21 counters on one turn felt like a ship was dropped on my nuts. Still a fun game. |

Thunder Dan was dealing Ferengi and bought himself 3 turns with an early Casual Recursion while I dug through my whole deck for 2 more Annexation Drones. Unfortunately, he ran outta gas when I stopped mission skills late, all but securing the victory for the Collective. FW 100-70. |
In this one, LORE went easy on me. I mean come on, Borg! He didn't assimilate any of my troll nuggets yet still gave me the one-two punch by solving mission after mission. This was the closest I had actually gotten though to winning with 70 points but I was a Security man down and made LORE actually go for the 16 different skill mission. |
