I Can Do Anything... I'm the Chief of Police |
Introduction |
Inspired by the Hirogen design loaned to me by The Legend's Spawn in August, I parlayed my Worlds spoils into a slimmed down iteration to trot out at our first post GenCon local gig. As a benefit of being singularly focused on mission solving in the Delta Quadrant, I dodged a trio of Battle Bridge side decks en route to victory. |

Round 1 | | Matthew Hayes | FW (+100) |
The Animal was trying out Maquis, but without access to General Quarters was unable to contain my steady stream of personnel downloads. After tagging him with a Denevan Neural Parasites I smashed through an Unscheduled "Assistance" at Investigate Quantum Singularity to win it while he was stuck rebuilding. FW 100-0. |

Round 2 | | James Heaney | FW (+100) |
Heavy Metal was attempting Klingon battle, but was quickly dissuaded from venturing into the DQ as I downloaded a pair of Venatic Hunters in place of end of turn draws. With Cyrus Redblock fueling extra card plays, I worked around an Engine Imbalance at Study Protonebula while he was held up by a Scientific Method. FW 140-0. |

Round 3 | | Kevin | FW (+60)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Kid Kash was angling on abusing Visit Cochrane Memorial, and forced me to solve 4 missions thanks to In the Zone and You Are a Monument. Despite a lack of blue Borg at Assist Cooperative, The Cloud and Chula: The Game bought me enough time to work through space and claim a trophy for the hunters on this day. FW 140-40. |
I was not expecting anyone to play in the DQ, and sadly my favorite dilemma combination was nullified. Truth be told, no one hit it all tournament, but this time it did't even have a chance to work. (Access Denied on space, into Ferengi Ingenuity, Virus, Abandon Ship, and finally Conundrum) While deciding to use a Civil War tent did buy me time, Kris's dilemmas were very good at slowing down or outright stopping me. Turns out, science is a skill. |

Closing Thoughts |
Winning tournaments has been more difficult in 2014 than it was for me throughout 2013, which is a credit to the talented folks who make up The Land of 10,000 Champions. While rarer than I would like, this triumph put me in the elite 25 / 25 club in player rating, completing a goal that I had made at the start of the calendar year. |
