Tournament Report - 1E - Online Event
2015-01-04 - 12:00 AM
Mitch, That's a Total Grey Area...
Introduction
The online league rolled back in to sealed territory this month with a return to the OTSD format, but as per usual the excessively limited card pool left much to be desired. Despite the noted shortage of treaties, dilemmas, and Diplomacy, I somehow managed to muscle my way to a 4th place finish.

Round 1KlingonFederationDaniel MattesonFL (-20)
The Gunslinger was playing a Tri-Treaty creation, and combined Scan and Res-Q to great effect early. In what was largely a mission solving race, getting bogged down at Excavation courtesy of an Alien Labyrinth proved the difference in this laugh filled affair. FL 100-80.

Round 2ByeBY (0)
The BYE was spent interviewing for a trio of potential new jobs, playing with The Asian Sensation's foster kittens, and enjoying the recent snowfall with old friends.

Round 3Ted ReebelFW (+75)
T-Rex was also looking to the Tri-Treaty for an expanded human resource pool, but was pestered from the onset by the constant presence of my D'deridex. Strong armed into making a mad dash at space, Abandon Ship slowed him to a crawl as I churned through Investigate Anomaly for the win. FW 100-25.

Round 4Michael Van BreemenFW (+20)
The People's Champ was running sans Treaty, but had his movements limited by a Q-Net and a trio of ships parked just outside his Husnock outpost. With crunch time closing in, a mission theft went awry at Study "Hole in Space" thanks to Hide & Seek shortly before I swooped in to take the mission and the victory. FW 100-80.

Closing Thoughts
OTSD is by far the most popular of all the sealed deck options, but lacks competitive balance when played strictly out of the box. In order to ensure that everyone enjoys themselves and can at least create some semblance of a playable design, participants really ought to receive a handful of supplementary PAQ era boosters.
