Damn Good Ridin' with Ya... Chavez |
Introduction |
With the Online League rolling back into Traditional territory this month and finding myself bored with Starfleet, I turned to my brother from another mother for inspiration. Intent on finally knocking out the 10x TNG player achievement, I then retooled The Original Champion's cadet build for one last ride with the Red Squad. |

Round 1 | | Matt Kirk | FW (+80) |
Mr. Charisma was engineering Cardassian, and stacked up copies of Tribunal Sentencing early to limit my turns going forward. Unfortunately for him, I cleared Practice Orbital Maneuvers in one attempt and both my planets in similar fashion en route to victory in what was the shortest match I have ever recorded. FW 100-20. |

Round 2 | | Oliver Thust | FW (+65) |
The Outlaw was piloting TOS, but lost a pair of McCoy's to Dreamer in his first attempt and never recovered. Running well from the onset, Tim Watters powered me through a Gomtuu Shockwave in space and a Dignitaries & Witnesses on the ground courtesy of Security Drills to lock up the win against my favorite overseas rival. FW 100-35. |

Round 3 | | Michael Van Breemen | FW (+25) |
The People's Champ was attempting Starfleet, and whiffed with an Aftereffects at Geo Survey allowing Davies & Co. to solve it in one shot. Trading missions from that point forward, Necessary Execution and Picking Up the Pieces held him off at Retrieve Material just long enough for me to steal one at the wire. FW 100-75. |

Closing Thoughts |
Trying in vain for years to put my own spin on the timeless cadet build that has become a trademark of the MN meta, I eventually came around to the mission set and personnel selection that my best man has used for nearly a decade. And in light of my recent success, the old adage rings true: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. |
