Buckets of Blood v3.0 |
Introduction |
Really rusty, but luck was definitely on my side today! |
|
Round 1 | | Andrew | MW (+35) |
De-staffed Andrew's ship by combination of a sweetly lucky dilemma chain on his first space mission attempt - Equipment Malfunction took out his ETU, Swashbuckler at Heart removed the possibility of Escapes, then Preventative Repercussions and Ardent Predator took out 5 crew! Despite putting 4 under the mission, this set him back far enough to buy me time. Turns later, because it took two full turns to reach his ship in the gamma quadrant, I followed it up with some engagements by my "hassle crew" to clean up what was left of his stranded crew and earn me some bonus points. One more bucket of blood floating in space... Andrew always destroys me with his dilemma pile, it's like custom made to ruin all my best laid plans, and the worst part is half of the cards come back to bite me later! Gomtuu Shock Wave, Dignitaries and Witnesses, and Unconventional Consideration stood out as problems for this deck. Very good game with tons of interaction, Andrew is always fun to play with. |

Round 2 | | jason bales | FW (+100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Jason had a very cool Jem'Hadar combat deck, with some really nice event support. Unfortunately he made a very fatal mistake early in the game and brought the fight to me just one turn too early. He started a battle with 54 strength thanks to a weapon, but too bad for him I was playing Klingons and had 64 strength. While his battle only cost him a couple discarded cards, he did spend his turn slow-pitching them to me so I can All-Out War him on my own mission and kill three of his crew, which happened to be enough to de-staff his ship, leaving him stranded on my mission. This sent him back to square one, and I was already truckin' on missions, netting me a full win. This is the first time I have seen Crippling Strike, and that card really impressed me! I am so glad I got the chance to play against Jason! |
Made a stupid mistake in trying to start a fight before I was completely ready, costing me the game. Just couldn't quite get that second ship out |

Round 3 | | Ross Fertel | FW (+100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Ross didn't draw a ship. :(
But Ross did blow my mind with both Warp Speed Transfer and Chula: The Game, which I have never seen before today... Ross, those are some awesome cards!!! :) |
Klingon Fighting deck. Of course, it's hard to fight when I have no ships. I got one last turn, but by then, it was too late; I never attemtped a mission. |

Round 4 | | John Paul Veasey | MW (+25) |
Veez was rocking a very, VERY sweet deck. This deck was very complex, either he is a genius or spent a lot of time making this masterpiece. Seemingly random, yet completely-integral, working gears mysteriously all worked together, netting him an impressive amount of bonus draws and counters to spend on a vast array of species and affiliations in this two-headquarter deck! VERY COOL! His early attempt at Wolf 359, Last Stand was stopped by my dilemmas, and would normally leave him wide-open for a follow-up engagement, but his Dominion Battleship shields put him out of reach!!! He scarily completes his mission, but thankfully sacrifices his crew, for 50 points! A misplay of Outclassed against my I.K.S. Hegh'ta at a space mission, nets me a much earlier mission completion and a all-out hammering of Brute Force gets me another 45 points to seal the deal. Notably I was ONE SKILL short of two-teaming my last mission for a full win, but his clever use of dilemmas stopped that dream cold. Excellent game, and I'm excited to see his decklist - great work Veez! |

I had a lot of fun, and today reminded me why this game is so great! I'm very much looking forward to GenCon this year!!! :) |
