Introduction |
I wanted to see if the 2021 Kaiserfest deck still works. There are 2 significant nerfs to consider:
- The Final Frontier general nerf
- Wake of the Borg is now a threat
As it turns out, the deck still works fine. Losing all the non-aligned free plays hurts a bit... A second universal outpost can help play around The wake of the Borg, but I didn't face it this tournament. |

Round 1 | | Manuel Rupprecht | FW (+98)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Unfortunately for Manuel, his one Neutral Zone Region mission made my Patrol Neutral Zones worth 70 (instead of 60), so I knew that I probably would notneed any of my bonus points. Got lucky and managed to find the mission with 2 mis-seeds first, allowing me to get a 70 point lead going.
Manuel's start was not too bad, got working on my dilemmas relatively fast, but since he could not spare the resources to put a ship in the neutral zone, I had the easy mission requirements and worked through the second mission and won on turn 4. |
So first round was against Peter whom i haven´t played yet at all. He was playing all PNZ Feds so i knew i had to be super fast to even solve a mission. After getting a very bad opening hand (should have shuffled that deck up better with all those duplicated cards - see the decklist) i was also forced to mis-seed one of my dilemma combos. Of course i guessed Peter´s starting point wrong and i think only after turn two he already solved for 70 points (i gladly helped him with seeding my own NZ planet mission...). As this meant he would need only one other mission i attempted Remus only to get stopped my a Medical Crisis. Peter worked his way through his second mission for the win. No whitewash thanks to process ore mining ;-) |

Round 2 | | Andreas Rheinländer | FW (+100) |
12x Patrol Neutral Zone... incredible match...
I tried to seed at least something under almost all of the missions. Andreas put only 6 combos down and left 6 empty. So I went for the missions with only my own dilemmas.
The only real problem for both of us was getting to 241 CUNNING for Establish Trade Route. I won the race by 1 turn thanks to an STP drop and lots of CUNNING boost (Lower decks, Taking Charge, Pike) |

Round 3 | | Florian | FW (+100) |
I really hate playing against Drones. It is just against the spirit of the game that you can attempt missions without having to acutally risk your crew...
For the first time in forever, my dilemmas actually held up against the drones. Romulan mind Probes - Linguistic locked out a mission for the rest of the game quite early.
I could not keep one of the drones out of the neutral zone so I had to go for some Establish Trade Routes but managed to do so quite fast. |

Round 4 | | Johannes Klarhauser | MW (+20)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Kaiser played a version of his Klingon outpost buster. He started harassing me with the Regency right away. Luckily I managed to go through one mission quite fast and established trade route with some bonus points for 75.
Made a stupid mistake on my last turn - thought that I went second (acutally went fist) so I thought I had another turn so I didn't go for a final all-in attempt on my second mission. That almost cost me the game because Kaiser almost caught up to me, only got stopped by a Whale Probe preventing him from doing 2 missions.
On the train ride home I realized I even had the full win in hand but it was hard to see... next time :) |
The TOS Fed PNZ deck from 2021. As said above TOS Fed is still up there, despite the latest Nerf to TFF. I decided to forego the usual download chain of Regent Worf on t1 in favour of fetching Captain B'Etor, the only Youth in my deck, so that my Regency was immune to Isabella and was able to run interference in the NZ.
In hindsight, I probably should have risked bringing three ships in to try and destroy his main outpost, but thanks to the still-not-fixed Isabella, a single copy would have stopped that.
In overtime, I eventually completed Agricultural Assessment, but the final dilemma in space was a Whale Probe.

Great new location in Monheim, thanks for organising! Hope to see you all soon. |
