Introduction |
I couldn't really come up with anything new for this tournament so I decided to run 5-space Voyager again with extra cards to make it a 3-HQ achievement. |
|
Round 1 | | Josef Lemberger | FW (+100) |
Voyager in my opening hand = sexiness. Other than a lucky kill with Weak will Perish taking out The Doctor (thereby making his Nothing to Lose stop me), I was doing well in this game. I had forgotten to put any damage marker removal in the deck which was problematic when Josef took shots at Voyager but I managed to get it to Caretaker's Array and move people to the Delta Flyer for the remaining mission solving FTW. |

Round 2 | | Nathan W | FW (+70)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Nate was playing Borg and using Locutus' Borg Cube to return 3rd or 4th to replay again for their downloads. I managed to barely solve Inversion Mystery, naming Back to Basics (after he had interlinked over 40% of his deck) My dilemma pile failed me horribly at his first planet as I drew only three legal dilemmas that I could give him out of 9 which consisted of Weak Will Perish, Honorable Pursuit (which he had no Honor) and Skeleton Crew. Thankfully, I was able to stop him after that point and, with help of microteaming, Running a Tight Ship and Space Chakotay, was able to secure the win. |
Mike was play 5-space Voyager - so the 2nd game my Neural Parasites did nothing. He was able to solve Inversion Mystery before my dilemma pile was setup and named Back to Basics, which gave me a lot fewer options. I had to mill a lot more of my deck to assure the interrupt walls hit, and lost my entire Tug combo doing so. His microteaming with Chakotay, RATS, and that card that gives he dudes +1 put me in a lot of tough situations that I couldn't overcome. |

Round 3 | | Jon Carter | FW (+65)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Jon was playing Khan but forgot about how the normally used Khan in Khan decks can't download if you have a space mission (which he did) Still, my dilemma pile sucked and he was able to get through his planet before I could solve a mission but, by the time that he got Joaquin and a ship, I was about to auto-win next turn. Named Formal Hearing in this game which actually came up (but in retrospect, should always name Adopted Authority unless you're uber-lucky and get Seska picked for Adopted Authority in a 1 of 9 chance. |
MVB in space. I was doomed because I just keep forgeting to get Joaqin (used multiple Sleepers for other peopke). That just left me way too far behind a fast deck. |

Closing Thoughts |
The dilemma pile for this tournament almost failed me (Khan and Borg can eat Arch/Transporter piles for breakfast), I was able to get through for the win thanks to Space Chakotay and friends. |
