What do you mean DS9? |
Introduction |
So I was asked to make a Legacy-based dilemma pile and I decided to couple it with a bit of silliness - All GQ missions with TNG/DS9 and almost nothing but high cost people (4 costers primarily), coupled with some Hoya/T'Lor for non-human Federation DS9 love. |

There's nothing worse than playing dilemmas and knowing full well that it wasn't going to work. That's what the result of this game as his unstoppable people met with Legacy and simply laughed at me. It's a rare thing when an online game is done within 30 minutes. One of these days, I will win :) |
Michael played a Legacy pile which didn't do much to my personnel, as they just walked right on to the win. |

Round 2 | | Thomas Solway | FL (0) |
Overwhelmed + No Win Situation = Pain for me. After finding that I have only two medical people in the deck, it was a grind to try to get through dilemmas. Legacy was what was keeping me in the game as I don't think he ever made it through a one. However, Legacy when it isn't drawn does little to assist and he eventually solved his missions for the win with me just a turn behind. Probably the slowest start for me in the tournament. |

Terok Nor was being beaten up a lot in this game - Gomtuu, Where No One Has Gone Before, etc. Meanwhile my high-cost people were on their almost perfect start in the tournament - Guinan, Promenade School, Jaresh and some alien DS9 in my opening hand. There wasn't much that didn't go my way at this point. |

Round 4 | | Tyler Fultz | FW (0) |
Dissidents + Assess Contamination = scary since after all, Legacy won't exactly work here. Thankfully, the dilemma prevention for me playing Legacy didn't seem to hamper me too much as An Issue of trust was often all I needed to use. The draw deck seemed to make its way through his dilemmas fairly easily... or rather, easily enough. |

Round 5 | | Mark Morris | FW (0) |
The game I won with Key to the Alpha Quadrant. Between having no bonus points from Bejal Otner (was never involved in the solving attempt), having 1 Promenade School canceled out, another spent for Charles Watley and him playing Phoenix at Commandeer Prototype, I would've been at 105 points. Then he failed Key to the Alpha Quadrant for my missing 5 points. Otherwise, I would've been stopped at that score and he would've eventually have solved his other missions for the win despite getting ahead of him. Truly, a funny experience. |

Legacy worked 4 out of 5 times but the failure resulted in a mission solve. Still, it would've been okay if I had stopped him at his last mission. Giving him Captain's Holiday didn't accomplish that goal. |
Game 6 Michael Van Breeman
I started with 3 equipment and two fajos menagerie in my hand. Weird. So I dropped the 3 equipment and Krax and played a fajos to grab the exocomp and draw 3 cards to put me backa t 7 cards at the end of my turn. MVB played a Guinan on his second turn to give Jaresh Inyo points to grab some DS9 heavy hitters. Luckily that allowed me to use my At What Cost early, and I was attempting with 7 on my 3rd turn. My Ferengi got slammed by An Issue of Trust and Where no one has gone before. With a little Watch Your Step thrown in for good measure. Is spent a turn drawing some cards and playing a few more people. Two turns later I was able to double attempt my space mission using a mercenary ship and the olarra. The second crew of 5 got through the mission, but I unfortunately I had no range left on the Olarra, and I couldn’t beam over and staff the Merc ship because Cyrus redblock would lose his staffing icon. So I had to wait until next turn. To go to the planets.
I was holding Micheal off pretty well at his first space mission, a nice combo was Inequitable Exchange grabbing his Weyoun, and then I randomly discarded my Weyoun from hand to Unwanted Guests.
I started working on purchase moon with some double attempts, but Legacy kept stalling me. It hit 4/5 times, but the last time it missed, I took purchase moon, and then went to Qulaor II where I took some time to do some math and then set up for 3 attempts of 7,6 and 4. Turns out I didn’t need to spend so much time there because all I got was a Captains Holidy, Krem and Gaila happened to be in this team, so I solved the mission. We played out Micheals next turn, and he would have indeed solved his last mission for the win, so I skweaked out that one.
Overall I went 4-2, and the two games I lost were by one turn. (I literally played them out). And I met some fun guys, so overall the tourney was pretty good to me. Next stop: Regionals!
Also, I think people should take a look at some of those 1 cost dilemmas from extreme measures, I only put them in my pile because I had to get 10 cards from the set, but they seemed to hit just about everyone I played.
