Introduction |
The deck was somehow missing several cards, still not sure how... |
|
Round 1 | | Kevin Reitzel | FL (-40) |
Klag being one of those cards which would have helped against his three issues of trust. I have to put some of this to a lack of shuffling because there's no way I should have had 3 guillotines in his first attempt, to have a second attempt with all Secret identity, to have all the Kruges in the bottom 10 cards and all the battle cards in those same 10 cards. Still, I likely could have pulled it off but I accidentally grabbed Bold Plan instead Crew Reassignment so his second crew of 6 solved before I could finish off Brute Force the following turn. |

Round 2 | | Bye | BY (0) |
I hate having middle of tournament byes. But it got me off of tilt... |

Round 3 | | Scott Baughman | FW (+60)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Scott was trying to get a Telepathic Deception lockout. The turning point was when he attempted with five in space, including Donatra. I give him Final Adventure which didn't consume anything fun and which he Donatra'd, using up all of his bonus points. However, he didn't have enough Range to fly back home and I had Kruge in play... After I captured his ship and people it was just a matter of time before I made it through for the win. |
MVB shows up for the match from the 1E finals earlier in the day. He gets it, too. I get some early bonus points against him thanks to Getting Under Your Skin, but I foolishly attempt with five personnel in Space even after seeing his dilemma pile is Tragic Turn kills (thanks to Ptol) and I had seen him play Kruger and revealed his hand with Tauthean and saw Point Blank Strike, D'Oh! I use Donatra to get by Final Adventure and I use Power Shift to solve Intercept Renegade, but on his next turn he uses Kruger and Point Blank Strike to capture my people and take my ship. Kruger is still a force to be reckoned with. My dilemma pile is able to stop him a few times, but eventually he gets out The Sword of Kahless and is able to find enough Exobiology and Biology to laugh it off. I never get enough people in play again to try for another mission. MVB gets the return match! |

Round 4 | | Mike Camp Sr | FW (+35)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Mike was playing Klingons with a different set of missions - protect the escapees, control plague, secure strategic base and deliver prisoners. I focused on killing his Treachery while I recovered past his back to back Gomtuu's and never drawing a Kruge to take his ship for the win. |
this time it was a great macth |
|
Closing Thoughts |
I'm not sure whether or not Maquis would've been the better play but as it was four rounds and not five, it was the safer play to get full wins. On the good side, added two more to my unique 2e total. |
