Klingon Tribbles v1.1 |
Introduction |
I decided to try my Klingon Tribbles deck (with a few modifications from the original deck) to see how it would compete. |
|
Round 1 | | Nathan Flaming | FW (+100) |
Nathan was playing Mirror MACO Starfleet. Unfortunately he didn’t have the Defiant out all game, which put him at a disadvantage. This made Vintaak a really difficult mission to complete, which he focused on right away. I was able to see Hero of the Empire out early so every mission attempt Nathan made resulted in at least 1 death. I was able to stall him with Infestation, a couple Pest Controls, & a few kill dilemmas. I was able to get through my missions in minimal attempts, though he was stalling me on my 2nd mission. I was able to micro team it with the Sword to speed things along.
I believe Nathan only had one turn with no cards in his hand.
It was a good game and the first time I played against Nathan. |

Round 2 | | Adam Bargar | MW (+35) |
Adam was playing Alpha Q Dominion, and I faced this deck in a previous tournament, so I had an idea what to expect. Unlike my first game, Hero of the Empire didn’t come out until late mid-game and I think he only killed 3 personnel on total. I also failed to get Sonchi out early as he got Audacious Assault on turn 1. This was a good test to see how this deck handles missing a key piece of the dilemma strategy. On his first mission attempt I was able to use Infestation to land Pest Control & WNOHGB. Adam’s dilemmas were also doing well at stalling my mission attempts. I was hit with a Casual Recursion (which ended up preventing me from getting the Full Win). I had my 100 points and on my last turn I finally drew A Chance for Glory (I had more personnel out & the sword so combat would have been easy). However Adam played an Our Death is Glory to the Founders stopping my plan right there. I went for mission 4 but Adam drew Timescape and an easy wall dilemma to end my chances at the Full Win.
This was another great game against Adam & I look forward to our next battle. |

Round 3 | | Benjamin Liebich | FW (+45) |
The Tribbles vs Tribbles battle. Blue vs red. The game got off to a slow start, I know I was looking for a ship & Ben was setting things up, like putting 3 copies of Debate Over Diner on my missions. Luckily the one mission without it was the mission I usually attempt first. However, with my first attempt I got hit with WNOHGB and my ship went away. Luckily I had another 7 personnel sitting at Qo’noS & a ship in my hand. I was looking forward to repaying the WNOHGB on Ben’s first attempt, however, figured he was going to use Kirk’s ability on my dilemma….which is what he did. I was able to stop him a few more turns while I was able to get by my first mission with 2 ships present. I ended up playing a 3rd ship as my other 2 ships only had 6 range, so I needed a D7 to move back & forth. Ben completed Dyson Sphere and was able to get 55 points for it with his discard pile & the Enterprise-B. At this point I focused on micro teaming my missions, as I felt he didn’t have Time Scape or Skelton Crew. Once I had 3 dilemmas overcome I would be able to complete with 4 personnel & The Sword. To finish the game I had 3 groups of personnel who could complete the mission, but only needed 2 attempts to complete.
Another fun game with Ben. |

Round 4 | | Michael Van Breemen | FL (-70) |
This game revealed my decks biggest issue, not having any interrupt prevention. Michael was playing a Cardassian Intel Speed deck that had a number of ways around dilemmas. Garak plus The Central Command meant it was only a matter of time before he would win the game. At least I was able to get one mission complete in this one.
As always, I learned some new things when playing against Michael. |

Closing Thoughts |
This deck is still pretty solid, with the biggest issue being interrupt prevention. Will have to find a way to include that while not adding to the deck size. This deck continues to be a work in progress. |
