Introduction |
The deck is Klingon armada with blood oath. The overall strategy of the deck is a two-mission win, between good day to live and wormhole negotiations, both of which I can solve for 50+ points each. The armada is a fleet of seven Klingon birds, many of which I have matching commanders for. |

Round 1 | | Richard Laurie | FW (+100) |
From the start, it was clear that this was Klingons against GQ Dominion. Stellar unfortunately never got off the ground, with his one ship caught in a stasis trap before getting the 100-0 win. |

Round 2 | | Stefan Slaby | FL (-100) |
Four homeworlds. Unfortunately, I did not make the connection and Quo'nos was quickly assimilated by the borg. |
|
|
Round 3 | | Mathew McCalpin | MW (+10) |
Klingons vs Rom/Kli alliance, and Scott seeding both Romulus and Quo'nos. Not only that, but Scott had a lot of high point missions, including overlapping with my own. This was going to get ugly quickly.
With my outpost on the shared mission, I quickly ran into a dead end, pressuring me into completing an alt mission which likewise ended up with a dilemma combo that was not so simple to overcome. By this point, I had four K'vort on the table, up against Scots singular romulan warbird. Given I was all but locked out of missions, I did the next best thing and blew up Scotts outpost. Not long after, and four K'vort became six to be a constant thorn against the warbird.
Finally solving one mission after drawing out my entire deck, I went after the second while Scot ran to the other side of the spaceline to avoid my sizeable fleet. He managed to complete one mission, while I ran into cytherians. That one ship had most of my crew, and eventually reached the warbird, which had been joined by a neg'var. Though they fought bravely, my K'vort fell in battle, taking the warbird with it. I saved the entire crew with evacuation orders, while a pair of K'vort closed in on the position of the fallen ship and the stranded crew, where we hit the time limit. |

Round 4 | | Jarrod Cafaro | FL (-100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
At the opening, he had a nor, and DS9. Playing a Bajorans, this tells me he is trying for trade runs in very troubled waters. It didn't take me long to have multiple ships on the table and by the time he started to do cargo runs, he also had three birds to contend with. Playing transwarp conduit, there wasn't much I could do to stop the trade runs, and I didn't have a big enough battle deck to try to smack every freighter I came across.
Unfortunately, for my two key missions I ran into two dilemmas that I was unable to cross. The first being locked out by a dead end, and the second being locked out by a combination of Hazardous duty, cytherians, and maglock. I don't have that many officers in the deck, so there was little else I could do. |
He’s playing Klingon Battle with Blood Oath. I got lucky and drew Kassidy Yates in my opening hand again, so I could play her to the Cargo Bay without downloading. I don’t draw a Xepolite freighter in my opening hand and DS9 is 8 range away for my d’kora transport with my mission specialists aboard.
Turn 2 I get to DS9 and scan with science lab and see a Strict Dress Code there. I used First Rule to download Zek and a latinum but forgot I can’t report a latinum to DS9. Oops! So turn 3 I Cargo Bay download Morn, use him to DL a latinum, and trade it in for a plasmadyne relay so I can start Cargo running. My D’kora transport can’t get all the way to my other Nor, so I go to my Trading post and dock.
He’s playing lots of ships so I’m nervous leaving any ships undocked!!!!!!
Turn 4 I finally get to the other Nor. I’m lucky he’s building up with ships because my deck starts slow this game and if he had a lot of people he probably could have outrun me.
I play a Xepolite to the Nor and start a second cargo run, again docking at my trading post. He attacked my Xeopolite with three ships and damages it, but with the plasmadyne relay I still have enough range to get to DS9 on my turn. I’ve played a few other freighters at this point. He could have come over and finished off my damaged freighter but there was little point because I had two more and the weapons on DS9 if he wants to fight, so he heads back to his outpost.
My turn I start working Acquire Illicit Explosives. I through Sakonna and Mardah at Dress Code. He kills Sakonna and then Mardah hits Interphasic Plasma creatures. She’s stopped, I use Science lab to scan the next dilemma, and it is Nagilum. Glad I didn’t “sacrifice” any Diplomacy. Next turn I play some Diplomacy and Yates ferries them to DS9 on a Cargo run. I throw 3 Diplomacy at Nagilum, score 5 points and get stopped by Shaka (I had 29 cunning!!!!! Almost passed it).
He attempts good day to live, and goes past an Edo Probe. Kang is killed by Friendly Fire, and he’s locked out and loses 10 points.
My turn I pass Shaka, score 25 points, and use Zek to put HQ: Ferengi Credit Exchange on DS9. I trade in two latinum and I’m at 34 points. I then start using Xepolite Freighters to red ship Gunrunning (which is towards the right end of the spaceline along with Uncover DNS Clues. I want to solve those missions and stay away from his fleet).
First ship hits Hazardous Duty and is stopped. I send 2 Officers over on another ship, they pass it, then someone dies from a dal’rok and I lose 5 Hazardous Duty points. Back to 29. I bring over a huge ship of people, cure dal’rok, but don’t attempt in case there is a Cytherians there.
While A Good day to live is locked out, he attempts wormhole negotiations (I’m kicking myself because I have Goss in the deck that adds Ferengi icon to this mission, but I totally forgot about that skill. So I stuck a hard dilemma combo here instead of my “easy for Ferengi to pass” combo which I could have blown through to steal this mission.). At WN he is stopped by hazardous Duty.
My turn I trade in a latinum to get a Ferengi disruptor rifle. There was one dilemma left at gunrunning, forget what it was, but I got past it and solve gunrunning and I’m up to 69 points. I could have gone to uncover DNS clues but Yates is the only N/A person I have left to staff my freighter, and he’s still at -10 so I decide to wait one turn to make sure I can staff another freighter at DS9 in case Yates dies somehow.
He attempts Good day to live again and is locked out by Dead End.
My turn, I play someone to DS9 and Morn is there, so I can staff a ship if needed. Screw it! I throw everyone at Uncover DNA Clues. Gint is my only Arch there but even if he gets killed I have Galen I can ferry over there. First dilemma was Chula The Door, no problem. Next dilemma was a Theta-Rad poisoning, which didn’t really do anything. I pass that and I solve the mission. I’m at 99 points and FORGET to play the Particle Fountain in my hand!!!!!!!
I ferry my people back to DS9 and send everyone to the bar. I have a gold pressed latinum in my hand, next turn I jet need to play it to Moogie, then trade it in at HQ: Ferengi credit exchange for 2 points.
He attempts WN again, passes with Hazardous duty with 2 officer, then they hit Cytherians. He attempts with everyone else and is stopped by Maglock. He’s stuck and can’t finish the mission. If he had 3 officer on his second ship he would have won the game (WN+Ressikan Flute+A Good day to live solving)
My turn I play the latinum and trade it in for 2 points.
Full Win, 100-0
