Introduction
I wanted to try to surprise people with a Kurlan Naiskos battleship hidden in a Cryosatellite, so I adapted my "Unstoppable" TNG Feds for this purpose. It was a good way to try something new without building a completely new deck. The deck relied on Captain Kirk to attack, but I ran out of time to figure out how to get the deck to attack Feds. I thought I would be fine since people would probably not be playing Fed. Alas, 2/3 opponents were.

Round 1FederationRobert PetersenFW (+50)
Hobie got me with 4-5 Dead In Beds while under the effects of the Whale Probe. I got my Kurlan Naiskos and fortunately his biolab was NA and thus something I could blow up, as well as something that was useful to blow up. In fact, it was the one thing I blew up all day. With no biolab and once some dilemma countdowns expired, the remaining biolab/virus-themed dilemmas were easier to get through.

Round 2KlingonKris SonstebyFL (-100)
Kris's dilemmas were strong, plentiful, and not the ones I had predicted. Losing both my Herberts to I believe Ankari Spirits was rough, and for some reason I could not or did not think of Res-Qing them. I think this game was where I did the novel (to me) play of STP a ship to hand, Nanoprobe Resus the STP, then play the STP again so I could keep playing my AU people like Commander Data.

Round 3FederationJames HeaneyTT (0)
James had his These are the Voyages deck, which I believe used my Unstoppable Feds deck as a starting point, so we ended up duplicating 3 missions. I tried to be cute and seeded the Cryosat and outpost at the duplicated Study Rare Phenomenon at the end of the spaceline, after it had only been seeded with 2 of James' dilemmas and 1 of mine. However, I failed to consider that 1) James would have the opportunity to seed his outpost after seeing where I seeded mine, 2) my dilemma would be encountered first and James' would be encountered last, which I believe gives him an advantage, and 3) James was using Dyson Sphere Door, thus he could probably stick some downloader dilemmas under the shared missions which would do basically nothing when he encountered them. So while in retrospect this was a mistake, it was at least an unusual situation and a learning experience.

I considered trying to attempt the shared mission early in the hopes he didn't have the mission skills for it, but I talked myself out of it. (I think either way I was in bad shape.) James found a window to pass my Spatial Rift and his dilemmas and solve; stealing my artifact, though he didn't do anything interesting with it. I think I was attempting (and eventually solving) my non-duplicated Salvage Borg Ship and the U.S.S. Phoenix's low RANGE had been slowing me down. Since I typically don't get AMS points from Salvage Borg Ship, that left us both at 35 when time ran out on the only game of the day where I went first.

Closing Thoughts
I have many memories of losing to my friend's Kurlan Naiskos in the 90s, and both of us were excited at the idea of using that same copy to blow some stuff up this past weekend. I am a little disappointed I was not able to wreak some more havoc, but at least I got some new gameplay experiences and some good times hanging with the gang.
