This will be our 2nd Annual Holiday Tournament, and this year will be a little different. In the spirit of the holiday season, I'm asking each player to bring at least 3 cans of food or other shelf-stable food items, which will be donated to Lost-n-Found Charity for homeless LGBT youth.
There will also be a theme this year: A Time to Stand. Each player must bring two decks. One deck must contain one to three of the following "good" headquarters/affiliations: Bajoran, DS9/ES9, NA (non-Khan), Klingons, Relativity, Starfleet, TOS, TNG, Voyager. The other deck must contain one to three of the following "evil" headquarters/affiliations: Borg, Cardassian, Dominion, Ferengi, To Rule in Hell, Maquis, Romulans, Terok Nor. Each round, players will flip a coin to determine whether they are “good” or “evil” for the round, with each pairing to pit “good” against “evil.” Because there will be an element of chance, this will be an unsanctioned event.
Finally, because this will be unsanctioned event, we will be playing with “Bend the Rules” conditions. In addition to the donation required as part of the fee, you may bring extra cans/shelf-stable food items to bend the rules during your games. During your game, you can spend (donate) food items to do the following:
a) … return your drawn dilemmas to your dilemma pile and draw an equal number of dilemmas.
b) … draw three extra dilemmas and spend three extra on dilemmas.
c) … spend a counter and draw three cards.
d) … download a Commander that corresponds with your ship; or download a ship that corresponds with your Commander.
e) … ignore the results of a random selection and select again (once per mission attempt).
Everyone playing in this tournament will win, in addition to whatever achievements your deck(s) are eligible for, two TrekCC achievements: “Peldor Joi” and “Bend the Rules.” Plus, in addition to standard prize support and holiday prize support, the winner and one random player will also receive a limited edition “Peldor Joi” button. Please register so that I can obtain the proper amount of holiday prize support.
UPDATE: First prize will be a Star Trek Wrath of Khan SDCC Exclusive mint in box. Door prize will be a Star Trek Starship Collection #11 USS Reliant mint in box with magazine (note: first prize winner can choose to substitute the door prize at which point Khan becomes the door prize; no player can win both prizes). Vintage Playmates ST TNG Action figures, in boxes, and official CC prize support will also be available. Only registered players will be eligible for the door prize USS Reliant.
