CardassianObsidian Order Owns You
Introduction
The first tournament in Brisbane, 2 weeks since the 2011 Australian Continentals in Sydney, was held yesterday (Sunday 17/07/11). It was good to catch up with the gang again, and a fair bit of discussion was had about the AC weekend, including what we learnt from the rest of the community. Unsurprisingly, most of us were running new decks, or making use of knowledge gained in Sydney to improve current decks. I had decided to try out an affiliation I'd not used since the pre-CC days, and ran with a Cardie Capture deck. I think it did OK for the most part, but I've already seen some room for improvement...

Round 1TOSGreg DillonFL (-100)
Greg admitted that he loves TOS, and put the majority of the bonus texts to great use. My capturing started off slowly, but in a few turns I had 2 Kreetassans and George Stocker in the brig. Greg then played Number One (dammit!) and got all 3 of them back - aarrgghh! With the rescued personnel, and some bad dilemma draws on my part, Greg was able to swoop in swiftly for the full win.

Round 2KlingonNon-AlignedGarry DillonFW (+60)
Garry was running Qo'Nos, but had far more NA personnel than Klingons. This game went a bit better for me. Even with the threat of additional dilemma-power from Garry's Husnock Ship, I managed to get a planet and space mission (Commandeer Prototype) done, launched the Phoenix, and got a Labor Camp up and running. Capturing went well (I think I got 5 or 6 personnel), which allowed me to make great use of Torture and Means of Control, and gave me lots of skill dots on my prisoners - which gave me 20 points for the win.

Round 3RomulanBen DillonFL (-70)
Romulans vs Cardassians. Urrgghh. This was going to be interesting - a battle for the title of "Bastards of the Universe". I managed to get Virtual Evek out early in the game, who captured 2 of his key personnel. Things were looking good as I managed to capture a few more personnel (I think it was another 5 or 6)...but then Ben started messing with my deck. REALLY messing with it - he managed to get rid of both Labor Camps, both Prison Compunds, and a Dejar, so there went my bonus points. Meanwhile, Hiren was sitting safely at home, make the best of Prejudice & Politics. By the time I got a mission completed, my deck was pretty much down to the last 3 or 4 cards. Another loss, but probably the most fun game of the day. Romulans really are the Bastards of the Universe! Hehe...
