Klingon[OTF] B'something goes achievement grinding
Introduction
Achievements galore! I went for: TNG Klingon Player, Balancing Act, Two Will Do, Highlander, Next Gen Problems, One Trick Pony, Ar-Q-logist, We Don't Need Your Help Q, Just Because Somethings's Old, and First Find Cyrano Jones. Not a lot of good dilemma choices available, but lots of seed slots, so I stocked five copies of Kobayashi Maru Scenario and hoped that with some Q-Flash luck I might stall my opponents for a turn here or there. The draw deck was just random Klingons for Legitimate Leader and Officer Exchange Program. No Ref cards whatsoever (apart from a Defend HW to grab a download).

Round 1RomulanWilliam HoskinFL (-14)
Will had pretty much the same agenda, that is, grab a lot of achievements. We agreed that we would just ignore our Tribbles side decks to speed the game up. His Romulans were a bit faster than my Klingons with the additional free plays. I attempted early and lost a whole bunch of personnel to stuff like Ankari Spirits, Hull Breach, Land Eel and Playing Doctor. Medical Crisis stopped me for a long time, but thanks to some equipment, I actually managed to complete that mission eventually. Some lucky Kobayashi and Q-Flash selections stalled Will for a while, and I even managed to get another mission done. We battled each other and destroyed a ship each, but in the end Will's Romulans had cleared enough mission to get the win. Fun stuff as always!

Round 2Niall MatthewFW (+13)
Niall played Delta NAs with Crell *nomnomnom* Moset and Vidiians, and played tons of personnel, but played it carefully with all those KMS on his missions. I had no such concerns, so I threw my guys right at my mission on turn one only to find a Dead End. On my next turn, I played a ship, and attempted Fever Emergency. I got through the Lack of Preparation, lost Ze'gov to Firestorm and was stopped by In the Pale Moonlight. Niall attempted his planet, wasn't affected too much by KMS or the Q-Flash (Quandary failed each time I drew it on 1-in-6 chances, grumble grumble), and even though he lost some people to Armus kill dilemmas, he completed right away and grabbed his Kurlan Naiskos. On my turn, I played more guys and tried my luck at Seek Life Form, where I got stopped by Occupational Hazards and had someone killed. Niall played another truckload of personnel and attempted his space mission. A lucky Hide and Seek from my Q-Flash, together with Rhetorical Question and Armus: Energy Field stopped him and forced him to fly to his outpost the following turn. Meanwhile, I had drawn into Duras, who would get me past In the Pale Moonlight and Occupational Hazards, so I played him, completed Fever Emergency for 35, then flew on to Seek Life Form. Duras cleared the Occupational Hazards, but then got put under my deck by Forsaken - the other 7 Klingons only had 1 Honor among them...useless, useless people. Without Duras, the last dilemma, Mortal Q, stopped me. I used Officer Exchange Program at the end of my turn to hopefully shuffle Duras a bit higher up in my deck and maybe draw into him again (I had no other Treachery left, I think). Niall flew home, played Vic Fontaine and The President of Earth, but couldn't quite reach his space mission again. I played a second ship, then flew to Amnesty Talks with one ship - I got hit with Brain Teaser / Definitely Not Swedish (Strict Dress Code / Ahab) / V'ger to blow up my ship with five people aboard. The other crew didn't have the skills for the now-cleared AT, so it flew all the way to my third space mission, Seize Freighter, and, miraculously, completed it by passing Brain Teaser / Emergent Life-Form (no Range left, so the mission continued) / The Cloud (thanks to two copies of B'something). Unfortunately, the ship had no Holodeck, so Niall directed my ship to the Paxan Wormhole and stranded it in the Delta Quadrant at the start of my next turn. Boo. On his turn, he finally made his way to the Alpha Quadrant space, easily passed the Virus I had there, and collected the Cytherians points by downloading an interrupt that says "instantly score Cytherians points" or something like that. So he was about 20 Range away from winning the game. Myself, I had drawn into another ship and Duras again, but would need two normal card plays to report them both, so I just played the ship and handed the turn to Niall. He moved his ship closer to his space mission (which was clear except for the Kobayashi Maru), then ended his turn. I dropped Duras and some chump, flew to Seek Life Form, where Duras cleared the Mortal Q, then B'something did his thing and had all the skills to do the mission and bring me to 100 points. That was certainly unexpected, Niall could have easily attempted one of his other three missions and would most likely have walked through on his first attempt. Great game, thanks for that!

Round 3RomulanJFW (+35)
Against Romulans with Androids, we had one shared mission in Amnesty Talks. I put Kobayashi Maru on J's other five missions and put my Reluctant Informant/Gomtuu Shock Wave under Amnesty Talks. I had a solid starting hand, flew away from my Outpost and attempted Seize Freighter on turn 2 with all my people, including Gowron. I immediately got through most of the four-card combo Trilithium Raid, Lack of Preparation, Personal Duty, but got stopped by the final Friendly Fire. Still, good to trigger that one early. J reported some Androids and lots of Romulans, and went for Amnesty Talks. He triggered his own Nexus, had two people stopped by Reluctant Informant, got his self-seeded Scout Encounter, but was stopped by my Gomtuu then, which damaged his ship, killed two guys with the battle bridge, and conveniently relocated the ship to my outpost. I left the FF-blocked Seize Freighter and moved home, blew up J's damaged warbird, then attempted the planet. I got stopped by Hanonian Land Eel, though Emergency Transport Unit prevented the kill. J replayed guys and got a hidden fighter, but couldn't attempt a mission that turn. Friendly Fire counted down, so I flew a crew of four with the Hegh'ta to Seize Freighter, and completed despite the Access Denied that J threw at me. Konmel + mission specialists earned 40 points. The people at my outpost attempted the planet mission, got past the land eel, but were all killed by Unscientific Method into Spider Barclay. Oh, and the Nexus destroyed my Hegh'ta. J left Amnesty Talks for the moment, and attempted a planet. He made it through the Q-Flash without a lot of trouble, had one Diplomacy personnel stopped by I'm not going to fight you, but made it through the Nausicaans/Chalnoth without kills. He lost two Soong-type Androids to the Armus - Sticky Situation that followd, though, and couldn't complete the mission. Myself, I relocated my personnel from under the Nexus to my Outpost, played more guys, scored 35 from the cleared planet mission, and went on to Seek Life Form. Again, I beat Trilithium Raid right away, but was stopped by the Scout Encounter that J downloaded and battled me with (I actually got to blow the ship up thanks to my Battle Bridge, but was stopped). Oh, and the Nexus had made its way over to this side of the spaceline, so I lost another ship. J finally cleared his planet mission, and with mission specialists, five points from passing Chalnoth, and Tolian Soran under the Nexus, he now had 65 to my 80 (I scored 5 from some Q card). He lacked the Diplomacy to beat the Gomtuu Shock Wave under our shared mission, so parked one ship at Seek Life Form and started flying another ship over to his next-closest space mission. Myself, I relocated my guys under the Nexus to Fever Emergency on the far side of the spaceline, but was stopped by another Land Eel. I had a new ship and enough guys to try Seek Life Form again, but it was pointless, as the Nexus would have blown up the ship on arrival, and I figured I had better chances in space rather than letting those guys nexus-relocate to the planet only to see them die to another Spider Barclay. J made his way closer to his space, but couldn't quite reach it. Myself, I played yet another ship (2 in play now), and downloaded Sons of Worf to have the staffing for both ships. I sent one over to Seek Life Form, where it got put in stasis by Quantum Singularity Lifeforms. Conveniently, I had a B'something aboard my second ship, so I brought him in to get rid of the QSL, then attempted again - Cytherians sent one ship on a trip, but the other crew continued thanks to B'something being a beast. We played out the next turn; J would have made it to his space mission, cleared the Virus despite KMS, but the Cytherians would have prevented him from doing the mission that turn. Excellent, fun game!

Round 4KazonMarkFW (+51)View opponent's Report
I had the alpha quadrant to myself, as soggy was playing Kazon and NA in the delta quadrant. We both went for multiple achievements (Dyson Sphere, Q-Flash, ...), so dilemmas were weird. We both scored low points off his Casino dilemmas, transferred some points with Q cards, and eventually got some missions done. Soggy lost some people to Penalty Box and Armus-Roulette, but completed the mission soon after with a Think Tank guy. I got my two planets done, but no thanks to Fightin' words, I couldn't complete Amnesty Talks with my guys even though it was clear of dilemmas after the first attempt. I caught a lucky break when my ship with 13 people aboard just so had the skills to beat V'Ger. I thought I didn't have the skills for the mission anyway, but soggy pointed out that I missed a skill on Sons of Mogh that I could use, so stumbled to the victory here.

Closing Thoughts
This was more fun that I thought it would be. Thanks for everyone, again, for explaining one 1E to me and being so helpful!
