Introduction |
Block tournament. I decided to run with TNG Romulans, since that was the one TNG faction I hadn't played yet. Let's See What's Out There as additional draw engine, Romulan Underground/Office of the Proconsul as play engines. |
|
Round 1 | | Matt Kirk | FL (-30) |
My ships got blown up by Matt's fleet, but I was still in the game and made decent progress at my missions. In the end I gave away the win when I missed a Biology that Kamala could have copied to get past the Medical Crisis that blocked my third mission. Not to take anything away from Matt, though, he totally deserved to win. |

Round 2 | | William Hoskin | FL (-60)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
With three shared missions and a bad spaceline layout for me (I need to improve this part of my 1E game A LOT), attempting / getting rid of dilemmas was a pain. Even though I got Friendly Fire to hit, and Linguistic Thingie with a countdown of four, I couldn't get the right people to the right missions at the right time. At three missions I cleared most of the dilemmas, only to see Will score two of them when I was skill short. With his never-ending supply of D'Lors, he always had enough Diplomacy to deal with Gomtuu or A Good Day to Lie, and he also killed some of my people with his Evil Data and Lore and managed to take out a key skill with them. Good game as always. |
I managed to get out ahead of Johannes and he seemed to be a turn behind all the time, some of my dilemma combos actually worked for once and I got a few extra people out for free. |

Round 3 | | Stuart Marsh | FW (+100) |
I had probably the best starting hand of all games so far, with the Mercenary Ship out on turn 1, and a steady supply of personnel for all the different play engines. I managed to dodge a hunter probe early and so was able to keep important people alive, and in the end I had enough personnel to afford to have cannon fodder crews to work at two missions while keeping my solvers out of harm's way. Good game! |

Round 4 | | Chris Morse | FW (+100) |
Chris played Klingons with Officer Exchange Programme and a splash of Rogue Borg. I attempted early - too early, as I hit Dal'rok straight away and lost two personnel to it. I camped at Chris' nearest mission to get card draws from Let's See What's Out There, and thanks to my turn 1 Romulan Underground I had most of my deck in play by the time the game ended. I decimated the Klingons with Armus dilemmas on the planets (Fun stuff: Kahless made the first Armus: Roulette fizzle ; the next Roulette killed K'eyhler and Worf), and Friendly Fire / Medical Crisis stopped them until I was through my missions. It was very close, though, as I had lost two of my Honor personnel early and couldn't get the 10 bonus points from Romulan Undergroung, so when I was hit by point-loss dilemmas twice, I feared I had to do four missions. Thanks to the mission specialists, I managed to hit 100 exactly, though. |

Closing Thoughts |
Now that I've tested the 1E waters with Feds, Klingons, Ferengi and Romulan TNG decks, it's time to move on to the affiliations that don't exist in 2E - Hirogen, Kazon, Vidiians, Alliance and Empire. No idea how they play without CM draws available, I guess I'll be in for some rude awakening... |
