Ferengi 2-mission |
Introduction |
I had originally planed for my Ferengi deck to be a "score early points, burn through At What Costs & throw cheap personnel at missions" deck. Then, I stumbled accross Ferengi Tradition and decided to build a 2-mission win deck instead. |

Round 1 | | Bye | BY (0) |
In my best performance of the day, I randomly drew myself to get the bye in the first round. |

Round 2 | | Soren Ramme Nielsen | FL (-60)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Soren was playing "a Doug" (thats a Romulan deck to non-Londoners). Despite blowing up P&P and GUYS early on, I struggled in this game. I got off to a good start by completing Aid Legendary Civilization on my first attempt. I didn't really want to complete it though, because I didn't feel I had enough personnel in play to fully utilize the missions gametext. I could only afford to place 10 points worth of personnel under my deck. I didn't even gain an advantage though, because we both returned the 6-cost non-aligned Bashir. Soren completed his first mission shortly after that and moved to Assess Contamination. Forgetting about the mission's gametext, I give him three non-skill dilemmas costing 1 or more. Fortunately, the first dilemma wasn't important to my combo and the attempt was failed. At my second mission, Soren played a Caretakers Guests on me and destaffed my ship. It would take me four turns to get another staffed ship in play, and by that time Soren had won the game.

Ah, James. I was really glad that I got to play James. He's always TDing, so I've actually only ever played against him once. James was playing a Ferengi two-mission-win deck using Aid Legendary Civilization and scoring bonus points with the new Ferengi loose-10-to-score-20 event. James destroyed my P&P and GUYS early on and I failed to stop him on his first mission attempt at ALC, so things didn't exactly look good. The ability on ALC didn't help James much though, as I returned non-aligned Bashir and Ptol (I actually think that James returned more counters worth of personnel than I did). The game tipped in my favor when I managed to destaff James at his space mission. I had emptied his discard pile using Dukat, so Caretaker's Guests removed one command star and He Wasn't Nice to kill both copies of Letek leaving him stranded. I took too long for James to recover from this and I managed to complete my three missions for the win. FW. |

Round 3 | | Nicholas Yankovec | MW (+10) |
Nick was playing Equinox. He didn't seem to have a good opening draw though. There were a couple of turns where I thought he was going to attempt, but after looking at his personnel, he declined. That gave me time to build up my personnel. I completed Aid Legendary Civilization pretty quickly (before Nick had a chance to draw Necessary Execution), but didn't gain an advantage form using its gametext. Nick had played several personnel for free with Forcing Their Way and had played a couple of copies of Thompson too. I, on the other hand, had faced the option of paying full price (6 counters) for Bashir. As the game went on, we both completed a second mission and begain working on our third missions. As time was called, I had two dilemmas under my last mission. Instead of attempting with two teams, I decided to throw all 16 personnel to see what happened. Nick began with Fractured Time, had a couple of other dilemmas and ended with Outmatched, Excalbian Drama and No Kill I. The three personnel that were remaining for the final three dilemmas couldn't quite make it. On Nick's last turn, a simple Guess Who'c Coming to Dinner followed by Gomtuu Shock Wave combo was enough to stop him.
