Terok NorTerok Nor Two-Mission Terrors [v1]
Introduction
For the second tournament of the day, I broke out my Ruling Council deck. I hadn't played it for 20 months so I gave it a bit of an overhaul, cutting a bunch of cards from the deck to make it more streamlined. That worked. Its just a shame that my dilemma pile didn't seem to work very well.

Round 1TNGWilliam HoskinFW (+60)
Will broke out his own Cadet deck for this tournament. It had a twist though. He was going for a two-mission win using B'aht Qul Challenge for the extra points. I didn't know this, so I was extremely fortunate when I decided to use my Weyoun to put his Worf under his deck. I don't think he saw him for the rest of the game, so I had unwittingly given myself a leg-up.

When it came to mission attempts, I held Will up at his first mission for several turns before he finally took it. Against me, Will stopped my first attempt too. He then stopped three personnel on my next attempt the following turn, but I had just enough Strength (31) remaining to complete the mission for 65 points. +15 for three Hand Weapons, +10 from the Tenak'talar and +10 from Ruling Council. On the next turn, I retrieved two copies of Ruling Council with Feast on the Dying, and used them to unstop my personnel at my second mission for the win.

Round 2CardassianRomulanThomas SchneiderFL (-25)
Thomas was playing a Dissident deck, using P+P/GUYS to score points and then Kira to spend those points to download three dissident personnel into play. We'd had a lunch break before this round, and in that time I'd spaced and forgotten how to play my deck. I went second and forgot to use my Historical Research download. I played Weyoun and didn't use him to download Dukat (who could, in turn, download Weyoun again after I'd used him.) I used Weyoun the turn after Thomas played Far-Seeing Eyes, meaning he could remove two copies of Weyoun from the game. It was stupid errors like that that made the game more of a wash-out than it should have been.

Shortly after the first Far-Seeing Eyes, Thomas played a second. He used that to remove a Bat'leth and a Ruling Council from my deck. He was cutting down my extra point options, and I feared I'd have to complete three missions for the win. It didn't come down to that though. At my first attempt at Kressari Rendezvous I went on a trip to the edge of the universe. I was short one skill (Navigation), and wouldn't you know? I had Tozara'Kesh (with Navigation) in hand. Curses!

On the following turn, Thomas made his first attempt. I stopped that with Old Differences, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner and then Dark Page. On the next turn, Thomas made a smaller attempt, and I couldn't stop enough personnel to prevent him from completing the mission. He then flew to his planet mission, but I stopped that with An Issue of Trust and Instigate Dissension.

With my ship back, I was able to attempt my mission again on the next turn. A combo ending in Temptation didn't stop enough personnel and I completed Kressari Rendezvous with five personnel for 70 points. +10 for two Hand Weapons, +10 from the Tenak'talar and +20 from two copies of Ruling Council. I had forgotten about the five points I scored with Odo though, and wasted one Ruling Council on 10 points I didn't need. With hindsight I should have used that Ruling Council to unstop my personnel. Alas, I didn't.

Thomas was almost decked by this point. When he attempted his mission with six personnel, I tried being cute. I hoped a Secret Identity would be enough to stop him. Sadly, Thomas had a Ptol left in his deck, and he had three of the five skills needed for Hunt for DNA Program. He took the mission for the win.

FL: 75-100

Round 3ByeBY (0)
Doug had to leave after the first round, so I was left with the bye. I spent the time regretting my decision not to add Shran to my deck. He's just so useful nowadays.

Closing Thoughts
Another 2-1 performance. I guess I'll have to leave Ruling Council for another couple of years before I break it out again.
