Introduction |
The London Regional was looking like 4 people up until the thursday when Danny and the two stuarts let us know they were coming so seven, Doug dropped on the day. 6 players 5 rounds round robbin. Before the tournament Nick and me sorted out who would be playing who so there was no issues later on. |

Round 1 | | Nicholas Yankovec | FL (-100) |
Nick has three decks that he is very comfortable with playing, Borg assimilation, TOS and Dominion. Today was a Dominion day and I was kind of hoping it would have been one of the other two.
An ok start from me and Nick with him going out and attempting his first mission I play Full Security Alert (3 stops)and Formal Hearing (Nick uses Dominion Hierarchy to gain the second Honor and noone gets stopped Nick completes on his first attempt but with no bonus points as I had stopped Duran'adar. The next turn I ensnare Duran'adar so he can't get bonus points when completing his second mission and finally get a ship into play the following turn I went out and attempted but Nick was able to shut me down with a couple of dilemmas. Nick hits the second mission and I'm able to stop him this time. I then ensnare Odo Founder and play Evek revealing two Distant explorations and an Enterprise-J, we look at each other and know exactly what Nicks next turn will be (draw 3 then play the three events as Nick has surprise Party in play). I look and think I may be able to make Nick do 3 missions rather then the two he was planning, so I attempt Commandeer Prototype hoping to download the Pheonix nick stops me with ease. On Nicks next turn he rescue captives and My chances of winning go out the window NIck moves over my HQ and on the next turn plays Your Fear Will Destroy You so all he needs to do is complete the mission using Duran'Adar and score the bonus points from the two distant Explorations to win. I draw and hope to get one of my ETUs so I can use the Grav Plating but dont draw it. One last chance to complete Commandeer Prototype but Nick shuts me down with not much effort.

Round 2 | | Daniel Giddings | FW (+65)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
After a good opening hand I get six cardasians out and play Evek capturing Hoshi Sato, captain's woman and start to look for a ship. I get Navaar and Garak out so skill cheating is all up and running and Danny struggles to stop me at the first planet mission. Danny plays rescue captives and I wonder if everyone is running it today. I try my luck by using Exceed Engine Output to get to Intercept Renegade, Danny plays Reflections and has eleven AU cards inplay and I only reveal one event and no interupts Danny can't stop enough skills and I complete the space mission. On his Turn Danny completes his mission and moves on to the second one I stop him with two dilemmas. On my next turn I play Enabran Tain drawing 7 (including the event revealed earlier which was Labor Camp)after discarding two people from hand I play Labor camp and have an ensnared in hand for next turn. I go and attempt my third mission (where I played the Labor Camp) and Danny was unable to stop me with Central Command getting past a few stops and Navaar getting a couple of skills I complete for the win.

Although I can’t remember the turn-for-turn play of this game, there are a few key moments that stick in my mind (and hopefully, the last one, will help my game in the future).
To start with, Will’s first attempt was at Escape Gulag – “What, so people have stopped playing Necessary Execution now?” I thought. A quick mental run-through of my dilemma pile shows that I’m not. Aah.
Secondly, during Will’s attempt at Intercept Renegade, he tries to play a Comfort Women to gain a skill to pass a dilemma. I Lustful Distraction it. He throws Mila in front of the Distraction, so I follow-up with a second LD. Will then Navaar’s an event to gain the required skill, overcomes, then moves on to mission requirements. Turns out, taking out Mila took out one of the two Intelligence required. Mission attempt ends.
And lastly, turns out Maglock doesn’t work against particularly well against Cardassians. I admit Officer wasn’t something I was keeping track of, but I realise I should’ve been. Now, after the event, I can see his decklist and spy the 17 instances of it he has. Might have to print off some Personal Duties.
Full Win for Will.

Round 3 | | Unjustly Banned | FL (-70)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Having played two warmup games against this deck (winning one and losing one) we both knew it would all be down to the opening hand and a few lucky draws. On James first turn he got three fed Maquis people out and I was in for some trouble, When My Evek drew a blank that was the end. James was slowly removing people from play so I was left with Evek, Tain and a few low cost Cardassians who James couldn't remember. When he managed to get his first mission done and played the Ressikan Flute I was just hoping I could make it close but that was not the case.

Will was playing a Cardassian solver with a little capture thrown in to disrupt the opponent. During our warm-up games the night before we had one victory each, and we both knew this game would come down to whether I could stop Will getting a two mission win using Labor Camp points. I had a great opening hand of three Federation Maquis personnel, but it would be several turns before I drew into a Cascade Virus or a Stalling for Time. Meanwhile, Will played an Evek early on, but thankfully the only personnel revealed was one I had already played so he didn't capture anyone. The first game changer came when Will attempted his second mission. I played All Consuming Evil followed by Biochemical Hyperacceleration. The second dilemma consumed was another copy of All Consuming Evil, so I got to kill two personnel and return three to hand. BANG! I thought I had the game all wrapped up at that point, but a decision I made shortly afterwards changed that. I was one Integrity short of completing my second mission, and realized that I could boost Santos' attributes using his order. The only two events I could destroy were my just played Ressikan Flute or the Biogenic Weapon sitting on Will's mission with several overcome dilemmas beneath it. I had to keep the Biogenic Weapon where it was so I destroyed the flute to complete the mission. I never drew into another copy all game, and thanks to the number of times I had played Organized Terrorist Activites, I calculated I had to complete four missions to win the game. This I managed, but once again I only did so on the final turn of the game. Phew!

Round 4 | | Stuart Marsh | FW (+70) |
Stuart was playing DS9 but after a couple of seconds I realized that the GenEn crew were appearing. After Stuart went out and attempted with 6 I stopped him but put a couple of dilemmas under. I then ensnared Arik Soong and Stuarts face fell I went out attempting and got through a mission. Stuart got a few extra bodies out and completed the mission. On my next turn I ensnared Khan Noonien Singh, Bold Man and Stuart let slip that he didn't have rescue captives and I'd made him have to do four missions. He didn't manage to get the second one done before I had done my three missions

Round 5 | | Stuart Motley | FL (-80) |
At this point stuart was undefeated and only James had managed to get a mission against him so I was not feeling confident. Stuart was out and attempted his first mission I stopped some people but with Worfs attribute bump he managed to complete. Not a good start for me. I ensnared Worf so that at least he couldn't do that to me again and went out attempting getting a couple of dilemmas under my first planet mission. Stuart was well under way and went for his second mission and I was able to stop him for a turn. I attempted and was stopped at my planet mission now having 3 dilemmas under. On Stuarts next turn he used some points to Download Data and Kirk and completed the second mission with ease but he'd used all his range so I had a chance. I attempted my first mission and using Telle managed to swap dilemmas so that I could pass the mission. Only 30 points down I had to go for it so I used Exceed Engine Output to get to Commandeer Prototype but Stuart stopped me with one dilemma under. Using Datas order he named Central Command so if I played it he would gain 5 points and I was trying to lock him out from winning. He had played all three promonade schools and used 15 bonus points only leaving him the possibility of 105 points if I could complete CP and get the Pheonix out he wouldn't be able to get the full win. Stuart was stopping me easily at CP so I decided to try to capture some more people to hinder his attempt at completeing the mission so with Data, Worf and Sisko in my brig I hoped it would slow Stuart down until I could complete CP but no the next turn he attempted and completed for the full win just as time was called. I was the only person who took Stuart over the 40 minute make but his deck was very fast. A well deserved Regional Win (we'll have to stop telling him when we play our regionals)
