Earth Space 9 |
Introduction |
SO I haven't played Earth HoSC for a while and I figured why not give it a shot at the Regional. I decided to use the Sao Paulo so that my people would be safe from any Tragic turn piles (at least in space) and then looked at the stats of the peopel I had in the deck. 15-18 totaling all thre argh, how can I get some better more Android esk stats. Admiral Doherty entered the fray and bang 24-27 totals were more respectable. Just need to get a supply of cheep ships and cheap people to staff(die) them and away I went. |

Round 1 | | Doug Hughes | MW (+25) |
Doug had borrowed Nick's Dominion Strength deck and I knew it better than he did. Unfortunately Doug was reading every card before playing it and still not getting the hang of the deck very quickly. Some errors on my part and I was out with 7 people on the ship but 1 dile3mma stopped me on two occasions. I was running out of time as I completed my mission on my third attempt and decided to go straight to the planet even though I knew I couldn't complete it this turn. I get one dillemma and it stops 1 person. If only I had the mission skills!
Doug has completed 1 mission and is attempting his second whilst I am tryign to draw into a Science personnel so that I could at least get the Mod win. |

Round 2 | | Nicholas Yankovec | FW (+100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
The key to this game was me gettign a desperate sacrifice after Nick had 8/9 events out. This seciously hampered both the offensive nature of the commodity deck and the defensive natire of the dilemma support allowing me to blow up 3 ships in consecutive turns to power through Nicks dilemmas including a Legacy that hit 3 skill dilemmas. If it had not been for the desperate sacrifice I think Nick would have been close/would have beaten me. |
DS9 Earth... I lost 100-0. A well played Desperate Sacrifice along with some excellent dilemma plays, and trouble drawing into a ship, delayed me enough to enable Will to take the Full Win, without me ever completing a mission.
I wonder if it's worth putting in a Christening to help get a ship, and some Event prevention is needed, but not sure if I want to start adding Jemmies and Our Deaths, when it may slow the deck down. It's not quick to set up as it is. |

can't believe he did it again. Took a good deck made it his own and ruined it all over again. Cheese, Cheese and more cheese. Yet he still managed to beat me. |
Will was playing a Earth Space 9 deck with Matthew Dougherty blowing up his own ships for super attribute attempts.
Let me start out by saying George Primmin needs a cost to use his ability. On three separate occasions in this game he was selected by a dilemma, triggering his own ability on himself (so he couldn't be stopped), then randomly selected to be stopped/killed by the next dilemma (which couldn't happen.) It was so frustrating. Frankly, I don't know how Will lost this game. Especially after a mid-game Desperate Sacrifice destroyed most of my events and then I couldn't draw into many more. Lots of my dilemmas were unplayable/too expensive, but I was just about able to use Endangered and Stir Crazy to keep me in the game.
Will blew up two of his own ships in this game. The second time, it turned out that he had killed the only Diplomacy personnel he had in play. I didn't know this at the time, but that's why Will couldn't beat me; he needed Diplomacy for one of his missions. Another last turn Kirk helped me through my final mission, and I squeaked out the win.
FW: 100-70 |

Round 5 | | Daniel Giddings | FW (+40) |
Danny was off to a flying start and I threw a 3 dillemma combop that I said would either be great and put 1 under or fail and Danny would get the mission. Uufortunately I forgot about an attribute boost and ardent Preditor failed me which in turn left Danny with the stats to pass Where Noone Has Gone Before and the mission on his first attemptm even worse he had range left and flew home.
I managed to stop Danny at his second space mission with a couple of trials ending in a Gomtuu and luckily even after the boosters Danny could only get to 32 Integrity. Dannys next attempt didn't go much better for me than the AP WNHGB with coolant leak not collecting any stops and Danny is able to complete the mission again.
At this stage I have been stopped twice at my "easy mission" both times with 1 dilemma going under so I decide to get a dilemma under my harder space mission, somehow I manage to get three dilemmas under and the next turn I use Doherty and complete the "harder" mission and then fly to my easy spacet to get a couple under.
Danny stops them with ease but next turn I manage to get another ship out with some crew and Doherty does his thing and I clear the space mission and then smash the planet mission for the FW. A very tight game that could easily gone to Danny. |
