Tournament Report - 2E |
2013-07-13 - 01:00 PM |
A triangle defense against people taking tk's on my lawn. |
Introduction |
I have never really played tos in a tournament because I never really felt comfortable with them. Looked over other peoples decks and after looking at kris' build I wondered if I could pioneer another "tos tempo" deck. As a corallary I wanted to re-examine the dilemma pile and try and build something new. I ended up creating a blended hybrid pile. The final product is a two mission deck that builds imcremental advantage via the HQ text, personnel abilities, a McCoy bounce or two, and culminating in a two mission win. Your safety net is having faith that another jank deck will struggle to get in front of you because of the hybrid pile. Not to mention having cost reduction, recursion and solid event destruction at the ready. |

Round 1 | | Preston Holida | FW (+100) |
Preston decided to play my regional deck since he loves ds9 and ship battle. As such I knew the skill matrix and the dilemma pile inside and out and was able to play into and around nec ex then sit on my hands until he was forced to attempt, get killed this opening the window for my space attempt and two mission win. |

Round 2 | | Aaron Arnold | FW (+70)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Arnold rocking droids and genetic freaks simply couldn't handle the sheer killing power nor could he bust gorgan. I simply out raced him even having to solve 3 missions. |
Ugh...I tested my deck against Kev's deck the night before the tournament, so I knew how bad this was going to be. Thankfully for me, Kev's dil pile crapped out to some degree on my first mission, so I was eventually able to solve the mission without everyone dying. After that, this game was over as Kevin had no real issues against my dil pile and plowed through his missions. |

Round 3 | | Kris Sonsteby | FW (+100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Kris jinxed himself then took repeated nut shots as I tracked his skills like only us old school players can. Game ends with his biology depleted, 9 dilemmas under find lifeless world and two copies of bre'nan ritual on it as i stay cool under the early game speed of a patented old pro deck. Another great game with a good friend I was really happy made the trip out. |
Big Kev was testing TOS 2-mission win, and hit me with a double dose of Necessary Execution and Whisper in the Dark as McCoy added insult to injury. With Bre'Nan Rituals clogging up FLW and the ALC bomb disarmed due to a shortage of 4-costers, it was smooth sailing for the former World Champ. FL 100-0. |

Round 4 | | Mike szarmach | FW (+70) |
Mike played Klingon riker sword as he continues to learn the game. Mike's lesson this game was how rediculously good McCoy bouncing dilemmas is, especially when he does it more than once off a hard time bounce. Klingon riker is tough against the 8 cost killers and guillotine but struggles against gorgan and bre'nan. Proving why I really like this new dilemma pile. |

Round 5 | | Bye | BY (+100) |
Kicked the bye's hard and chatted with the wife when she stopped at home. Played with the puppygirl for a bit and talked new magic set pre-release with Keith when he showed up after work. |
