BorgAll those implants...you know thats really hard on the knees....totally impractical.
Introduction
After some tribbles action that saw me get ridiculously lucky at the championship table, It was time to, as Kris said, "play my best game". I had decided a couple weeks ago it was time for the borg to reappear after going through some tweaks to the deck. Buried Alive certainly helps the deck. It would really be nice though if either A. design gave us some new borg objectives so we had different things to do OR B. Errata finally gets around to removing the no longer needed borg ship clause from Temporal Vortex so that borg players can at least do something different - like Retask cubes. Posting Garrisons, harnessing particles and stopping first contacts are fun but its time we had some more possibilities.

Round 1ByeBY (+100)
Assimilated some Dr. Pepper and played marvel puzzle quest during the bye.

Round 2RomulanJon CarterFW (+70)View opponent's Report
Jon was able to use the phasing cloak of the apnex aided by the rulebook that somehow a phasing cloak is not a cloak to avoid getting borghandled early. Just my threat though was enough to put him a very slow plan. Jon catches another break in drawing anij off the power option 2 (instead of choosing option 3) to gain protection for the rescue apnex against a tractor lock. I assimilate insurrection on my turn but again, jon had cloaked the observatory to keep it from being assimilated also. I guess jon felt his luck was running hot and he went after a space mission, got stopped and had to stp. Next turn he replayed and tried again, again stopped, this time blown up. I had found my locutus the turn before and thus feel the tide turning. I take a look under earth right next door and after seeing just a hanonian land eel decide it probably isn't a god combo. So I take the risk and blow through then catch the 94% successful probe possibility and assimilate earth. Jon goes after Romulus now seeing that I can in a single turn fly back to my starting end and complete a gateway ftw on the next turn. (of course I don't know this). I get the garrison to hit on Romulus but I make mistake 1 of two this game and don't d/l the twins as part of the group. My turn I make (in hindsight) mistake number two, I play a resistance is futile and leave behind a guy to keep me at 75 while I salvage starship at his 40 point space where I destroyed his apnex. I should have just followed my normal procedure and blown out my range getting back to the spaceline end I started at and tried to establish gateway. I would have had the win that turn if I did. Instead the game drags out another 3 turns while jon pings my cube with sacrificial ships and then battles my garrison where I got lucky and held the garrison one turn longer than I deserved. Oh well. I'm not gonna beat myself up too much as i was more or less in control of this game the whole way and jon was never in the running to win between having to leave Romulus and the clock running out.

Closing Thoughts
This deck is still solid when played correctly. Its not invincible, but you have to work really hard to make any headway.
