Tournament Report - 1E - Andoria Regional
2016-04-17 - 11:30 AM
BajoranKCAI need Bat'leths! How many? All of them!
Introduction
Wanting to take the opportunity to upgrayedd the prior version of this deck and throw it into the deep end to see if it could swim. The MN regional is the definition of a deep field that isnt a K3 or higher event. Some of the next level decisions I made with the deck end up back firing on me though.

Round 1RomulanBen JohnsonFW (+70)
Stole Pegasus search, destroyed a ship then cleaned up two of my own missions for the win.

Round 2TerranBarry WindschitlMW (+49)View opponent's Report
Barry built up and built up behind a protected timeline until he felt ready to come out. My dilemmas did their job and over the course of just 3 mission attempts barry's personnel were all put to bed. Unfortunately I was one turn short of pulling the full win.

Round 3KlingonKris SonstebyFL (-100)View opponent's Report
I made a lot and I mean of lot of bad decisions during the seed phase. You cant do that against Kris and hope to win. He exploited my mistakes perfectly and got the perfect 100-0 sweep score. We duped Wormhole negotiations, something I never expected and therefore didn't have a plan for and my cobbled together plan just ended up sucking. On the drive home I realized what I should have done that would put me in the game. Live and learn.

Round 4BajoranMaquisKCAJames HeaneyMW (+35)
So much maneuvering happened in this game because we both had MTD's that could allow us to pop inside each others ships and facilities and reek havoc. James decided to turtle at bajor and Mirror bajor and I was happy to let him since there were some moments early where I knew that if he got more aggressive the game could grind to a halt. So we spent a lot of time building up and dancing around each other. Twice though I took opportunities to snipe people. I killed a lenaris holem on his interceptor and later (the hossiest play of the day) - James left the intendant alone on his regency 1 at mirror bajor and declared it so that strategema was implicated while the rest of his people attempted bajor and got stopped. I then d/l'd my intendant, free played bariel, dl'd a gun, flew to bajor then mtd'd her onto his regency one at mirror bajor and had my intendant execute his intendant with an art of diplomacy. Some hot girl on girl action. Then my regency 1 flew over and opened fire. It was fun. Time was running out, my dilemmas were stopped James hard, I got through refuse immigration and dabo'd. James was unable to solve a mission before time was called and on the equalizer bonus turn.

Closing Thoughts
The dilemma strategy works only giving up 3 missions over 4 games when paired with the ability to battle reliably. Just the dilemma placement screw ups in the game with Kris was the only black spot and that was my pilot error and not a deck flaw. I like the deck but I don't LOVE the deck like I do some of my other decks. So this one will likely get shelved or re-worked. So many strategies out there to explore next that at the very least this on will be put to bed for awhile.
