RelativityNull Space Wave Colony
Introduction
A few weeks before this event i looked over my achievement history and decided to play an affiliation I had not played in a tournament before and then paired it with a dilemma pile that would 1. Get me an achievement I had not earned yet and 2. Would be somewhat poetic. So Relativity was what I settled on and pairing it with a non-lethal force dilemma pile was the goal. I researched as many different relativity decks as I could find to see what had been done with an additional goal in mind of trying to find something new that no one I could find had done. After a couple weeks of work this is what I created – intentionally going after 125 points off 3 missions thus giving me 25 points to burn on AWC? and Field Studies. Start with Null Space Catapult, solve it for 35, (hopefully) fling yourself to Soliton Wave (and pull an event back). Next turn burn those points on the blasts and studies then hopefully solve Soliton wave then go to Aid Lost Colony.

Round 1TOSKeith RuppFW (+100)
Keith was playing TOS with a focus on infestation merged with some Conscience of the King action. Keith said he wanted to give it a try himself after he saw the version I played a few months back. Keith went a slightly different direction than me by going all in on all three Tribbles missions and his dilemma pile had different choices for the space and planet dilemmas. Keith went pretty much for kills. I was at the Catapult on turn 4 where a pair of infestations set up an ardent predator and Nanite Attack. I failed the ardent predator as well and was nowhere near having the nanites beat. I didn’t have the attributes anymore. The rest of the game was basically an exercise in managing to only have exactly what I needed to solve missions. The next turn a future guy died and Chakotay went away. So I was down to 4 in play. I Temporal Transporters to put exactly what I needed into play to solve with what I had in play and when Keith drew nothing that worked I did fling to Soliton and from there it was more or less academic – a 28 counter turn and 2 fully successful studies allowed me to push through Soliton and it was onto Aid Lost Colony on turn 6. On Keiths side of the table I had penalty boxed him but he was able to solve his space mission the turn before I crossed the finish line.

Round 2DS9Candice  FordFW (+70)
Candice was playing Common Ds9. She said that she took MVB’s deck then modded to her own tastes and preferences. I can attest to that as on turn 4 when I attempted with 4 with OT Kirk in the mix she removed kirk with a lead in dilemma but discovered that she couldn’t stop me with the Dead Ringer that was behind it. I had Future Jake and Simmons in the dc pile matching a skill with everyone who was remaining in play. I pulled Simmons in when she got rid of Data to keep staffing, solved then flung to soliton wave. The rest of the game went as scripted with a 21 counter turn and a triple Field Studies being 5/6th successful meant I was onto Aid Lost Colony on turn 5 and took a Guillotine + double ace to the face. On her side of the board she spewed a cajiggerillions worth of dudes onto the board then double attempted space on turn 3. I stopped the first team with Inferiority + Rapid Progress naming Biology she didn’t have in play then penalty boxed the second ship. On turn 4 she went home and came back with just 4 to attempt with 2 under. I popped the inferiority and stopped them with an adopted authority. Turn 5 she solved, flew home and took everyone to Torga IV where I again stopped the first team with Inferiority + Dead Ringer. Then second team found the other Dead Ringer. Turn 6 I set up the top of her dilemma pile with Tampering (a pair of 4 costers and an ACE) then Temporal Transportered in just what I needed to solve with 6 and took down the game.

Round 3BajoranZlatan TerzicFW (+100)
Zlatan was playing Bajoran integrity Orbs. Start of turn 4 I had 5 guys in play, so I temporal transporters to bring OT kirk into play, then drew 3, then TT again buying it back, then did it a third time by burning a Delivery boy. Apparently what I did after bringing in kirk was enough to make Z forget I brought kirk in first as I attempt the Catapult with 8 and Z only played Agonizing Encounter which of course got kirk’d allowing me to solve, fling and get the TT back into hand. After that it was another 28 counter turn and double fully successful Field Studies. I solved Soliton turn 5 after a use of each chakotay and it was onto Aid Lost colony. On Z’s side he was able to microteam solve Denorios Belt and get to one of his 40 pointers but I solved Aid Lost Colony turn 7.

Closing Thoughts
I am happy to see more and more improvement from my local players. The changes Candice made to MVB's deck were interesting and didn't affect its speed at all. I looked over Keith's deck from top to bottom after our game I told him that his ratio's looked solid. I'm just more surprised that this relativity deck was a lot stronger than I anticipated. I did benefit from a couple of mis-plays but the deck certainly puts pressure on the opponent. Dilemma plays are the hardest aspect of this game to master and in that area my players are still improving. All in all this deck was fun to play and I did enjoy the playing out of my discard pile aspect of relativity. Miracle Working is flat out gross in this deck once you’ve solved the Catapult and are digging for AWC and Field Studies. If I was to play this deck again, I think the next version will actually play without either Future Jake and Revised Doctor. I never once played or needed the revised doctor and both he and jake lack a staffing icon which can/could create issues trying to fling the Relativity. I think Future Nog and another Remorseful Kim or Anthony Braxton to replace them.
