Tournament Report - 2E Traditional
2011-04-05 - 05:30 PM
BajoranBajor, Curse of the Pah-wraiths v.2.0
Introduction
Prior version of this deck was initially built months before Extreme Measures was released, but, had never been played, and was modified with the new Bajoran Resistance peeps in EM, still not played. Originally, I had built a NA deck to go for the Traditional tourney, if one of our players, who most likely would have abused Goval again (what with TCS not in the format), so my dp for that deck was geared at putting the hurt on it, had he shown. To offer myself an alternative, I built this version of the deck today, and as said player was a 'no show' I chose to run this instead. Glad I did.

Round 1TNGJody LambFW (+60)
Jody was attempting the TNG Tough ach. (which I tried, and failed at, a number of tourneys back). My Rule #141 fueled Gorgons held him up a couple of attempts, then later assisted Basso in snagging a mission. Moral Choice did the trick another time, as did An Issue of Trust. We tied at 40-40. Then, I got ahead and held him at bay, WINNING! 100-40. It was a good game, and as I've said before, Jody is our area's top player, so the rare victory against him makes it much sweeter. If he makes it to the Coon Rapids Regional this Saturday, I'm rooting for him to take it invasion style!

Round 2StarfleetNon-AlignedJerad BerhowTT (0)
Jerad. NOT Borg!... (as my wife often uses the phrase,) Oh... My... Goodness! Shocking. I nearly fell over in surprise. Turns out he was going for the NA Victor achievement (which I also tried for recently, and whiffed). His deck was pretty solid, I got off to a start and scored my first mission. He followed not long behind with his first grab. I got my second a few turns later, while holding him at bay with the well chosen single copy of Quarren Labor Shortage and grabbed it something like 4 or 5 times with Not Easily Avoided before he got Gem into play to nuke it from my dp. (and this after I erroneously hit him with an overcosted The Dal'rok instead of the NEA-gotten QLS as I had wanted to kill another member of his four person away team!) While I had two dilemmas under my Acquire Illicit Explosives and had planned to get another Command peep, plus my third ship in play the next turn, time was called, and he was successful in tying the game, 65-65, but, I was able to keep him from the victory at his third mission. Yeah! Another good game. (and a much welcome break from his 'walking science fair projects' as LORE refers to 'em. heh heh)

Round 3TNGAllison BerhowFW (+65)
Allison was also running for the TNG Tough ach. and as she got out with a ship before I could get any Command star peeps for either of my rides in play, a first turn B'Tanay, and a few turns later the Bajoran Interceptor, it had me worried that I might get skunked. Fortunately, as I forced her to keep plugging away at her first Strength mission, that of the planet that requires Nav, Transp, (Acq or Hon) and Str>28 (the name escapes me atm), I finally started drawing into my Command peeps. I got out and nabbed Kressari with 3 hand weapons aboard on the second attempt, after the first wherein she got a well-placed/timed Maglock to halt it initially. So, she had played Guinan a turn or two earlier with the both of us sitting at 5-5. I got up to 50 in that. Bopped on over to Rescue Prisoners, got it in two attempts, IIRC. and then she finally acquired the aforementioned Str>28 mission of hers. putting the game at my 80 - her 35. Subsequent turn, after waiting around for the stopped peeps at ResQ Priz, I started on Security Briefing and took it for the win in two attempts, as well. FW 100-35.
