TNG2E Sealed Continentals: TNG Feds work with Bajorans & Cardassians
Introduction
I had wanted to use the DS9 starter but in the end I was glad to have got the TNG starter. The key to my deck was solving all 2-span missions (throwing in Acquire Illicit Explosives which Tahna Los has all the skills for) and Geological Survey getting the 5 point bonus using either Pran Tainer or the Tricorder with either Regana Tosh, Weld Ram or Davies. Having three personnel with Cunning of 7 made solving my three Cunning missions easier.

Round 1BorgMike ConstantinoFW (+30)
This was Mike's first Second Edition tournament and playing with the Borg was not an easy task. He made a few mistakes with dilemma order that allowed me to breeze through and solve missions. I explained to him afterwards that you want to stop personnel first before throwing up a potential wall or kill dilemma. Mike did use the Interlink ability correctly which helped him solve one mission. He also was helped out by the Cube's 10 range allowing him to move from the Alpha Quadrant to the Unicomplex to a planet mission with ease. In the end my span 2 missions allowed me to only have to play one ship and I solved the final mission with two Away Teams.

Round 2TNGTed ReebelFW (+65)
Ted had a good deck but I got lucky once and he made one critical error. Because he went first I needed that luck to get ahead of him on attempting missions. He used Worf to look at the top dilemmas of my dilemmas pile. He then attempted his Geological Survey with 6 personnel. I drew two dilemmas. The second one was Kolaran Raiders, allowing my to stop his Away Team. While attempting Acquire Illicit Explosives he made a mistake putting Bynars' Password first before Wavefront. I easily got by Bynars' Password using Wesley Crusher. Had Ted put Wavefront first, he could have stopped Wesley and I would have had to stop a second personnel with Bynars' Password. The other thing that hurt Ted was his space mission was 3 span so he needed to either play two ships or take two turns to move between his headquarters and the mission. Again, my 2 span space mission helped speed up my deck.

Round 3DS9John CorbettFW (+70)
John made a fatal mistake early on. He chose to stop his Jem'Hadar with Security when he hit Kolaran Raiders. The next dilemmas was Hunter Gangs which killed two of his personnel - causing his ship to be destuffed at his planet mission. It took him three more turns to play a ship (after drawing into and then playing Benjamin Sisko to download the ship and then playing the ship on the following turn). His deck was good in that he, too, was using two 30 point missions (using Kressari Rendezvous's 5 point bonus by discarding a hand weapon) to make solving missions go faster. He got unlucky that his hand weapon was almost at the bottom of his draw deck. One good play John got in was discarding a ship from the top of my draw deck on his first turn using Davin. If I didn't have Nel Apgar to help cycle through my draw deck faster I might have to wait another turn or two to get my first ship out.

Closing Thoughts
For some reason in all three of my games William T. Riker died. Maybe losing my "Number One" helped propel me to number one in the tournament. Having 3 cunning of 7 personnel really makes solving missions so much easier. I can solve missions using 5 or 6 personnel allowing my to normally solve on my second attempt at the latest. With three span 2 missions I had a great advantage allowing me to move to space mission, attempt, get stopped, (next turn] play personnel at Earth, attempt & solve space mission, move to Earth, pick up personnel and move to planet mission to attempt using just one ship. That is why I won the tournament.
