Jaresh Inyo FACE SUCKA! |
Introduction |
Played a smaller version of a DS9 earth deck with a tired old TT/clown pile. In my defense, I would have liked to play a regular stop pile, but my only 2 An Issue of Trust are already in my Cardassian capture deck :( Not much strat here; get your species, go to the prom and Kirk your way past stuff. |

Round 1 | | Casey Wickum | FW (+30)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Close, close game. Dissident Odo stops TT- who knew? Didnt kill a lot of guys, but stopped enough with Odos text that I was able to squeak by. Casey BTW, did not get to battle at all due to Sloans Bad A$$ :) |
This game was extremely close, As Bajoran Resistance dudes are pretty manageable against a Tragic Turn megadeath pile... especially with Kira Nerys, Liberator who can just cheaply grab people from the discard pile. Though I didn't have her out there, Krim helped out by nixing all of the All Consuming Evils before they could hurt, though I will keep in mind that Nixing Clown also would take the dilemma pile from a Lion to a Kitten. Still though on the last attempt for the game, with 2 to draw, Ed drew a clown and crushed my hopes of Victory. :( |

Round 2 | | Eric Bieche | FW (+30) |
Mirror match here, just different piles and I had played the deck before whereas Eric had not had much practice with his. Eric is a solid player, so I'm gonna chalk up the fact that I had games under my belt with this deck and Eric did'nt to my win. Also USS Sao Paulo stops TT, who knew? |

Round 3 | | Al Schaefer | FW (+65)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
I feel bad for Al that he got bad beats on his draws and had to go against my jank TT pile, but not super bad, bacause I dont think ive won a game against Al since GenCon '10, and it was a practice game in our hotel room :P I agree with his tournament report that with Legacy changed to not be a super counter to TT piles, then TT needs to be reviewed since it's just going to end up being the same old song and dance at major tourneys. |
Ed's sound gameplay and deck-building gave him a powerful edge in this game. I knew that my cardy's were slow and the deck would win or lose based on getting a captive early and I lost this game by far because that did not happen. Yes, I should have had Inequitable Exchange, but I didn't. There's not much to report in this game other than the fact that Ed's deck worked, and mine didn't. However, I would like to make a comment on the nature of the Tragic Turn, Clown Guillotine, and All Consuming Evil themed dilemma piles. Something should be considered to try and tone this down a little bit. Almost every game that I face this dilemma pile 5-8 personnel die on the first attempt - EVERY TIME. Forget Legacy, that card may have some 'broken' sounding abilities, but I have yet to see it happen. Legacy and cards like it, imho, should be encouraged to try and phase out the nonsense that is the TT/Clown/ACE deck. I know, tons of cards get stacked and you will get the mission on the second attempt, and there are cards/decks that can be played that will beat this dilemma pile. But it was quite frustrating that by the time I did finally draw Evek and Ensnared, I no longer had 6 cardy's on table to gain the benefit of playing these cards because I had been marauded by the same combo that's been overly popular since last GenCon. Don't get me wrong, I have this dilemma pile built and I've played it too - it's just plain good, easy, and effective. But can we move on to something else, please? |

Round 4 | | Michael Moskop | FW (+60) |
Closer game than I had thought going into this. I helped Mike build this deck, so I knew what it could do vs. kill piles. My win here was due to 3 things: one, I consumes all of my TTs and none of my ACEs. two, Mike is still a youngster, so needs to get some games under his belt to fully get into the swing of things. Guy has a scary memory tho, so when he gets going, look out. and three, my deck is just a twinge faster than Mike's. thats really it, |
