A Klingon KISS |
Introduction |
Even though I built this deck for the Return to Grace release event, I did not include any of the new cards. I went back to an older Klingon mission solver with easy missions. I was hoping to get my missions done before too much damage was done to me by capture or whatever their play might be.
There is no event or interrupt destruction in the deck so it had to be quick. To that end I used a lot of past Klingons to take advantage of their cost savings while still getting very good, high attribute personnel in the game. |

Round 1 | | Bye | BY (0) |
Well, can't test the deck out yet as I got the bye. Okay, time to practice a few more draws, not that I can change anything at this point. |

Round 2 | | Sean O'Reilly | FW (+100) |
Sean has some weird three HQ, two 50-point mission thing going. I think he was going for the achievement. Anyway, my missions were easy and his were hard. My Klingons were able to go through 3 1/2 missions before he could finish his first. I had to do an extra 1/2 a mission because he did some tricky stuff that made me stop the mission attempt and go do other missions first. Not a big deal as all my missions were equally easy and do-able. It did cost me a turn though. Final result, full win, 105 - 0. |

Round 3 | | Joseph Bazemore | FW (+35) |
Joe started out a little slow with his game, even though he drew a Temporal ship in his opening hand. It took him a while to get the people he wanted or needed. In the meantime, I quickly did Investigate Alien Probe and Rescue Prisoners before he could do his first mission.
He caught up very fast after that. Even though Brute Force is easy for Klingons, it's tough if you don't draw your Security. He held me off a few attempts and while doing that completed two missions and started on his third.
Luckly, I had a couple of Uninvited's in my hand and was able to stall him out on his last couple of attempts long enough for me to pick up more Security and do Brute Force. It was a very close game by the time it was done, with me winning on the final turn with no time left on the clock. Full win, 105-70. |

Closing Thoughts |
During the course of the tournament I saw that John was playing a Cardassian capture deck. His normal capture deck is really annoying so I could only imagine what it would be like now with help from Return to Grace. Fortunately, I didn't have to play him, whew!
My draw deck and dilemma pile worked about like I expected them to. I used weenie dilemmas to filter out people and then some walls to stop the attempt. I only had one bad dilemma draw, four planet dilemmas at a space mission, and my Unexpected Difficulties had been nuked the turn before. Other than that, I can't complain. |
