DragonCon 2014 Relativity Slipstream |
Introduction |
This was our third and final 2E tournament of Dragoncon. It was a Slipstream event as I wanted to be able to also get in a Tribbles tournament afterwards, without asking the players to give up too much convention time to gaming.
I decided to try my Relativity deck that didn't do too well at Regionals. My logic was that I could probably do the 50 point Aid Lost Colony as fast as any other deck could get to 50 points. I also tossed in a little bit of anti-bonus fluff, just to help slow down a fast opponent. |

Round 1 | | Michael Shea | FW (+50) |
Mike was going with a Terok Nor deck, which I also like to use in Slipstream tournaments. Neither of us did anything really fancy or tricky here, but I did play A Few Minor Difficulties, naming his Tenak'talar to prevent the bonus points.
We just both built up our crews attempted and failed our first couple of mission attempts. I was able to finish my mission first and as it was a full 50 point mission, I didn't need any extra bonus points so the game was over with me getting the full win, 50-0. |

Round 2 | | Alex Pauley | FW (+50) |
Alexandra is pretty new to Star Trek and I believe this was her third tournament. She did a great job in stopping me on my first two attempts. She made an excellent choice of dilemmas and made me realize she will be a force to be reckoned with in the future. She had one of the Enterprise ships that gives bonus points (I can't remember which one), but I named it with AFMD to prevent those bonus points.
It didn't matter as I was able to hold off her mission attempts long enough to get my mission done for the full win, 50-0. |

Round 3 | | Scott Baughman | FW (+50) |
Scott was playing his Voyager deck again. Although he was able to get some of his game plan into play, the short Slipstream format didn't give him enough time to prevent me from solving ALC for 50 points and another full win, 50-0. |

Closing Thoughts |
The Relativity deck is one I really like, and with a little improvement, I can probably make it work for me in a regular tournament. In the meantime, I think it's excellent for the Slipstream format and with this tournament, I was able to actually, finally get my Relativity Player achievements! |
