Introduction |
I came into this tournament with two goals, to not play against Ken T. and to stop first contact at least once. I know enough to know that I didnt really stand a chance of winning. So I just wanted to achieve the stop 1st contact.
The deck was simple, get the queen and her ship(s) up and running real fast with 9 queens and spacedoor (to get the spacedock) and construct starship to get the ship, turn 2 in every game i had the queen on her cube with a bunch of buddies.
After that all i had to do was get the equipment going and the draw engines, draw into a Data, Download assimilate homeworld with the implant and head to earth.
Once earth is scouted, download stop first contact with that same implant and head back in time. i would say by this time the draw deck is 98% successful probes.
Then head back to the alpha quandrant and salvage a starship for the last 60 points. |

Round 1 | | Kenneth Tufts | ML (-20)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Yup, there it was, pulled Ken in round 1. OK. Let's see how this goes.
Ken was very patient with me and I really appreciate it, though in the end I was sad to see this game end in a timed victory. I somewhat believe if I had known my deck or played it before I might have been the guy to break ken's winning streak
on my last turn I did manage to Stop First Contact and with the timeline disrupted in 2063, and most of Ken's starfleet folks removed from the game it would have only been a matter of time before I completed salvage for the other 60 points.
Good to see you again Ken, and looking forward to the next time. |
Hey it's Mark who I met at GenCon last year, mostly a 2e player still learning 1e we had a fun time catching up, Mark was playing a Borg stop first contact deck.
I got out of the gate much faster then Mark scoring 2 missions for 70 points, then he started in on earth. I risked going past a Edo probe & was rewarded with a Cytherians trip. Mark finished Earth and stopped first contact for 40 points & most of my deck evaporated, but then time ran out with me ahead 60 to 40 and the modified win, with most of my deck missing Mark would have won eventually, so I got lucky on this one. |

Round 2 | | Tara Dubois | FW (+100) |
With Tara I had a much better understanding of which drones to get and when. The deck got set up real fast. But Tara was running even faster. By the time I left the delta quadrant she had scouted serveral of her missions.
Lucky for me, the choice wall dilemmas combined with mission debreifing kept her just slow enough.
My borg didn't really have much issue with the dilemmas at Earth so scouting that went rapidly, and then heading back in time to stop first contact super quick.
Disrupting the timeline in 2063 really hurt Tara's deck, removing some key players like Galen, Riker and Telara.
Then it was 1 or 2 turns of scouting wolf359 before it was a gurantee probe.
Thanks Tara for the game and hospitality. Was greatly appreciated! |

Round 3 | | Kurtis Correia | FL (-100) |
I had been just discussing before this game how there would likely by 1 card that would shut down my whole opperation. I think that was the big downfall in this game
I got the engines up and running relatively quickly and was soon headed to Earth. The frist dilemma scouted brought forth a bunch of ferengi and a ferengi whip, then with some additional things they attacked and beat my borg. (if i would have sent 1 more drone...) winning the fight allowed Kurtis to download a transport inhibitor with the new ferengi fighting card.
Being unable to beam anyone else down or beam anyone up and getting mixed up in fighting stopping, and having pre-dispositioned myself to be expecting one card to shut down my whole deck... I just sat there.
I felt liek an idiot after the game when Kurtis let me know i could have continued scouting the mission each turn... uggh. after looking at what was seeded under there and the amount of drones I had and the rate I was losing them, it was concluded that I would have completed scouting earth if I would have just scouted everyturn...
basically this bumbed me out, but lesson learned, I did come away with this learning something about 1E ferengi, so that is a plus.
thanks for the lesson Kurtis. |

Round 4 | | Julia Y-F Chen | FL (-100) |
Julia was playing some crazy draw/play engine involving Crell Moseet. Seemed like a pretty decent combo to me.
And apparently the game with Kurtis got me razzled and off my game, or my draw was an epic fail, but it took a long time to get going in this game.
Meanwhile, Jules was plowing through my murder dilemma pile with her holograms... note* this is the 2nd (and last) time that holograms will burn me in 1E.
Really happen to have played everyone visiting from vancouver, was nice to meet you all. Thanks for the great times!
