The Followers of the Gun |
Introduction |
This was a Followers of the One, Continuing Mission TNG only Borg/Andoid deck with Attention All Hands and Cybernetics Expertise for free plays The plan was to have Lore, Data (TSTL), Romulan MS Security/Treachery and Officer/Leadership and a couple of few Attention all hands universal Borg by turn 2 and comandeer Empok nor (getting past Friendly Fire and using Computer Crash stop Ferengi Infestation and Sleeper Trap). I then would download 14 hand weapons and some medical equipment and go kill things with +35 strength to each personnel using The Asimilator to beam through ship shields... and then solve some missions |

Round 1 | | Kevin Jackson | ML (-60) |
Kevin was play Danny's speed continuing mission Federation mission solver. I got off to a good start and had commandeered Empok Nor and downloaded my arsenal on turn 2. Kevin speeded through getting out an away team to attempt his first mission at his outpost. Most died in a Kazon bomb but he soon had a second attempt and completed for 55 points with 4 mission specialist, which I reduced to 50 with an In the Zone. He made a move for a space mission and hit my Osarian Pirates/Whale probe combo. I moved in the next turn and beamed over to finish off the crew, then went to solve a Foster New Collective for 35 points. I cleared out Mining Operation then got seriously stalled with an Emergent Life Form which sent my Assimilator merrily wandering the space line. After this I managed to clear out a planet mission of all but a Scientific method but was 1 science short which I had on my outpost. I moved back to pick up a Science and towards the empty Mining Survey but Kevin quickly got out a few personnel to make another crew to complete his now empty space mission. Time was called with two of one of my missions empty and one with just one dilemma which I could have passed! Time loss 95-35.

Round 2 | | Paddy Tye | FW (+30)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Paddy played a fast Enterprise-E and Bajoran deck using Bajoran Resitance Cell and FF: Relaunched for a fast play and draw engine. The game started well, I went to attempt Empok nor on turn 2. He has seeded Sleeper Trap, but I Computer Crashed it. This did stop me commandeering for a turn but I then commandeered and made some brutal attacks on the Enterprise-E crew. Unfortunately he has Jean-Luc who downloaded Prepare Assault teams so I could only kill half his crew at a time. I managed to kill quite a few personnel and commandeered DS9, then moved to solve missions. Paddy has some good combos which slowed me down including Chula: The Chandra followed by The Cloud and Emergent Life Form, which I managed to avoid as my ship has already used its range so it couldn't move away, so I solved my mission and then beamed to another ship. In the mean time Paddy had done 2 missions for 70 points, but I managed to clear a Garbage scowl to complete for 100.

Well, I'd figured Stu would try and use the new Android/Borg boarding party approach, and was spot on. I had even designed to use Morn to download GPL and get me a transport inhibitor. Would have worked a lot better if my opening hand hadn't been quite so bad! Wasted time Masaka-ing. Sleep Trap under Empok got squashed by Computer Crash, but he did have to wait a while before commandeering and getting his 1 million guns. The spaceline setup meant I would need 2 turns to get to DS9 and collect the Transport Inhibitor, and Stu didn't have a Borg ship out to use the Boarding trick yet, so I ventured out towards DS9. Boom - he plays an Assimilator and downloads Transwarp Conduit. Uh-oh. Fortunately, Jean-Luc's download of Prepare assault teams meant he couldn't wipe me out and commandeer my ship that turn, albeit he did kill my Mission Specialists. My turn, played an extra personnel aboard and got to DS9, picked up the Transport Inhibitor. After that we switched to solving, and Stu stormed through 3 missions (albeit with a little bit of difficulty from The Cloud and Emergent Lifeform) whilst I only managed to get through 2 for 70 points. An intense game, and didn't go as badly for me as it could have done! Stu also managed to commandeer DS9 on his travels too! |

Bye, nice BLT sandwich! |

Round 4 | | Danny Nuttall | FL (-65) |
Danny was playing the infamous TNG Ferengi Battle deck. He managed to seed Empok nor before me which at first threw me but I managed to Commandeer in turn 2. This put Danny on the defensive and his Ferengi built up quickly but kept their distance and stayed under a Cloaked B'rel docked at his Trading Post. I decided to act, maybe a bit too hasty and kicking in the Assimilators [DL] Transwarp Conduit, moved double range then docked at his outpost, beamed onto a ship were he had some people and killed them. Next turn he managed to get out a Transport Inhibitor and started firing at my docked ship keeping it pinned down while he attempted some missions and generating points and draws with Ferengi Military Operations I spend a few turns of trying to get to him, and being annoyed at myself for not including a ship that could land as Danny had an Away team on a Planet but with TI's who had been stopped by my The Vengeance Factor, The Gatherers combo. Danny managed to do a space and a planet mission so I decided to Slipstream to the other side of the space line where I completed Foster New Collective in one attempt, computer crashing a Ferengi Infestation blasting away the Neural Parasites and Eel with 14 hand weapons! It was too late though and Danny managed a third mission for 100 points. Looking at they dilemmas after the game if I have gone straight for attempts my hand weapon arsenal would have cleared me through the next two missions each in 1 attempt! Hindsight is always 20/20. Good game but full loss 100-35

Round 5 | | Niall Matthew | ML (-70)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Niall was playing a fast Delta/equinox deck with Vidiaans, with lots of free plays (Ocampa, Talaxians, home away from home, vidiann solidarity) and some Borg. In a fast paced couple of turns I had acquired my Empok Nor and Weapons and Niall had cleared out Liberation, with a sacrificial crew getting blown up with The Arsenal: Divided and Kazon Bomb. He then went to attempt a space mission at the end of his space line and was stopped again by the Ossarian Pirates, The Whale Probe combo. I decided to Quantum Slipstream to that end of the delta space line and strike, but as I announced my Beam action he used Kes to [DL] The Gift and move away. As I had range 0 I couldn't move after him. Next turn he plays a U.S.S. Dauntless and moved over to battle my with two ships, neither of us had a BB he damaged me and I damaged the equinox. Next turn I played a Quantum Slipstrem Drive to bring a D'deridex over. This forced Niall to STP his Equinox to hand and I beamed over and finished off 6 personnel of the Dauntless. After this I slipstreamed back to the Alpha quadrant, and started attempting missions, but made two silly mistakes. I had encountered Crisis on one attempt, was ready for the second then forgot to place the officer on the ship. Then when I was about to complete I forgot about my own Mission Debriefing and instead of sending only 4 personnel to finnish the now empty mission I sent them all an so they were stopped and and I lost a turn. In the mean time Niall managed to build up again in the Delta quadrant and moved through his 4 missions quickly to score 140 to get past my You are a Monument. Full loss. 140-30

A chance at revenge! After a humiliating defeat against his Decius deck earlier in the year, I knew I had to watch myself with this menace. Stu was playing Rouge Borg and androids and he meant business! On turn 2 he bagged Empok Nor to download every weapon in the goddamn universe! Meanwhile I started early busting as much Dilemmas as I could on different missions while he built up his forces. I attempted at the end of my spaceline and got hit by Pirates and a Whale Probe. He then made his move.... He Slipstreamed to me with his cardplay, prompting me to SD the Gift via Kes. I regrouped with the Equinox as well and attacked his assimilator. Next turn he got Crosis and co, Strapped the 5million rifles onto their cocks, and fired cyber-disrupter jizz at my guys on the Dauntless while I returned Equinox to hand. He went back to the alpha Quadrant and it was pretty much a solving environment from then on, Time out with 3 missions under my belt. Enjoyable game sir. |

Closing Thoughts |
Although the deck worked really fast, with Empok nor commandeering proving to be no issue at all, the deck really needed a way to get onto outposts and deal with transport inhibitors in away teams. It really needed a ship that could land and someone like One who could been through outpost shields. The Dilemma combos worked quite well to stop crews and away teams and make them vulnerable on planets. Even the games that I lost I was within were 1-2 turns of winning.
