Introduction |
Local tourney. My kids were busy that day, but I wasn't. I decided to play Delta Klingons, found a winning deck online, and tweaked it to my tastes. |
|
Round 1 | | Chris Morse | FW (+70) |
My deck proceeded well against Chris' Cardies, even though two of my people got captured (someone by a dilemma, and Kohlar by Ensnared). He got through one mission by using several cancel-stop abilities -- I think it was Central Command, 2x in the same attempt -- to get through Unbelievable Emergency/Personal Duty/Gomtuu unscathed. |

Round 2 | | Chris O'Connell | FL (-100) |
Chris ran Klingons, with a power combo of K'Tal/K'mtar/Guidance of the Council and lotslotslots of Events played. This meant that on my one planet mission I attempted, he kept drawing and spending extra due to Delirium, and repeatedly playing Unfair Terms and Whisper in the Dark for free. By the end, I had gotten 15 people killed, and needed to ask the TD (because it would have happened on my next turn, if I had gotten one) what would happen if I attempt with 5, have 6 under, and his verbs add 2. On one late attempt, I almost passed Whisper using The Promise, but even with a dozen people in the discard pile, none of them had Honor! On his side, I got a good dil combo on one of his attempts -- Accelerated Aging (at Instruct Advanced Drone), to actually prevent the solve (even with Riker!); Bitter Medicine cuz it'd go back to my pile anyway (and in case of some skill cheater around AA); and then Dreamer to hit his hand while I was at it. |

Round 3 | | Lucas Thompson | FL (-70)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
I repeatedly micro-teamed my first mission, and solved it around mid-game. (And then, like in my first match, forgot to use the discount it granted.) Meanwhile, Lucas was spamming out cheap people (but I hopefully disrupted him by Tacking his 6th rule). On his second mission, he attempted with 11, and then attempted again with 9. (He left out Ezri, cuz I kept asking if I'd stopped her with a dilemma.) And I held him off for a while, with An Issue of Trust being more effective than he expected. On his third mission, he attempted with 18. And two dilemmas in my combo of 5 really underperformed: Intimidation, rather than hitting many Ferengi, started with an Alien; and Quantum Filament, which would have set up the later dils to extra-stop, got passed. |
I'm a staunch space-first guy, but after my experience in the online masters (and because I only have one mission that can be attempted by only NA personnel), I went planet first here. It worked well enough that I solved both my planet missions first. This became an issue because, at that point, time was almost up, and Matt had a planet solved and a space mission buried.
Mostly to save time (but also because I still only had one ship), I just threw 18 personnel at my space mission (which was not even all my personnel in play at the time). It worked pretty well, in part because of all the duplicate dilemmas Matt drew. That's not something you can do every time though, I imagine Matt is going to have Fractured Time in his next three piles. |
