I Miss the Bajoran Resistance |
Introduction |
I liked the Bajoran-region deck I played in January, so I revamped it for March with Cardassians for a Treaty achievement.

Round 1 | | Damon Sommer | FW (+100) |
Knomad (Damon) had Legitimate Klingons in a battle deck designed to either blow me up or lock me down. He got out Bortas with Gowron and Worf, so I got out Strategema and pressed on Bajor. Of course, in a treaty deck, I also needed to make sure I had crinklies in every force. With Rogesh and Elim, I was ready to try Bajor, where Fgi-Inf stopped me for a turn, but then I passed it to find THTF [-7] and ITPM (yeah, Elim). That's one solve and my B'Hala, but then I am faced with turtling. My missions outside the Bajor region were at least 9 span away, so out of reach -- I'd get partway there and get blown up by the Bortas. But I know how to face a battle deck. I've written an article about it. Go for points, and either you'll get to 100, or you'll get a timed win while they're spending too many resources on locking you in. So I decided to just spam ships down and know I'd lose them anytime I was stopped by a dilemma. Meanwhile, he did have one team trying to pass dilemmas, but getting stuck each time, by NanoFug and Forsaken and Rules of Obedience. So I sent one ship out with two people (and B'Hala) to poke at CNE -- and BHala showed the third seed card, Dead End. Then they got blown up, but I planned for that by havingone of them be Taban [5]. So off I go to AIE, stopping at Maglock. When his ships came near, they did an STP up -- the ship and all 5 of its crew could report free the next turn, all using different mechanisms! (((Frtr, Mardah, Lupaza, Dax, Elim, Rogesh))) Another ship brought 3 OFFICERS, who then started a Cyth run. I sent another team in to pass Drumhead (Elim, getting what he deserves) and solve (Dax+Lupaza), bringing me over 50. I had also drawn into Winn, so each turn she would rig the deck and Leeta would Dabo for [6]. I brought that crew back same turn (his HA was DefMeas, not Debrief), and redshipped (yay old Tent) at CNE again -- Edo Probe! Oh no, I have 2 solved already and this has to be my last one, and he's not going to get anything soon. So I reasoned that I had to push forward, knowing I'd lose the points. Yup, stopped at Q, but the mission was clear and I had 60 points. My redship got blown up, but next turn I [finally reported an Astro and] solved, and the [6] from Dabo brought me over. Final point tally, just cuz it amuses me:
Mission points, all from Bajor region: 35+35+25 = 95
Kira Taban = 5
Negative points: Edo Probe + THTF = -17
Dabo: 18

Round 2 | | Michael Van Breemen | FL (-22) |
Michael also had Legitimate Klingons, but didn't play it like a battle deck. He got the jump on mission attempts, redshirting a a Rules of Obedience, then passing it with an ETU to save Kahless, who then downloaded (even while stopped) Warrior's Birthright to pass the Dice followup. My first attempt at Bajor, was done in by a MED combo -- Hippo removed Lupaza, then MLI/TPS killed everyone else -- 7 people, leaving only Overseer Odo (and Lupaza, and MLI'd Rom) in play. Next turn I started a rebuild, including Bareil and Leeta -- and very helpfully and very amusingly played Lasting Peace to get 6 of the 7 lost people back onto my deck, just in time to probe for Dabo! Michael next pushed through a NanoFug, to then fail a Spatial Rift (failing because Zegov fell in). Waiting out Lupaza's countdown (to pass the 3rd at Bajor, Med Crisis), I poked at AIE and lost some redshirts to Ankari Spirits. Michael passed Spatial Rift despite losing Zegov to it again, and solved that 2nd mission, then tried a planet, where Apollo (at the end of a combo) tried to blow up his cloaked ship. With Michael at 86 (from two missions and a stream of PO:M), and clearly set to win next turn, I finally retrieved Lupaza, solved Bajor, and acquired B'Hala ... then flew to AIE to use it. Gomtuu was passed with Bareil, and The Cloud stopped my large group (I keep not playing my Astro; none of them are free except Rom) -- but I had kept a solving team of Lupaza and Damar hidden on my second ship (you know, the one with Ankari on it; it's fine to be on except at the beginning of the turn). They solve and I Dabo more to end at 78, then Michael wins.
