Round 1 | | Mark | FW (+91)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
vs. Mark(Soggy_Amphibian)
Mark was playing Klingon, he started out with the usual downloading 6 personnel on the first turn and tenting for nIv to get 6 Klingons that could all download other Klingons including Antaak. My deck was off to a little slow start. I didn't have any personnel in hand to play with Brunt's shuttle so I just tried to draw the first couple of turns. Mark went for a space mission, but with only 6 personnel he couldn't get past my Arsenal: Separated. I was still trying to draw into personnel for a shuttle drop and not having any luck. I think Mark made a mistake his next turn and used all his klingon personnel's special downloads and then had Antaak got a mah niv for 10 personnel. He got past the Arsenal, but didn't make it past Barclay's lost 5 Klingons and was stopped. At this point I knew I had better go for a mission attempt to try and catch up, so I played a ship and flew over to Rendezvous to attempt. I cleared out the dilemmas losing 2 to a Subspace Shockwave, but couldn't solve it. Mark got past my other dilemma and scored 40 points. Next turn I got an Officer and solved Rendezvous discarding 3 weapons for 50 points with the 62nd Rule putting me at 55(5 points from a Subspace Fracture) and Mark lost 10 points putting him at 30. I dropped the shuttle with 2 more personnel and flew back to the homeworld for an attempt. Leeta saved everyone when I hit Distracted and Firestorm by downloading Kukalaka. So I got 30 more points putting me at 85. Sitting on a mountain of latinum and Mark at 30 points I knew I could just sit there discarding latinum for points and win. He had bad luck and lost another 21 points trying to solve a good day to live, then got stopped by dead end. 3 turns later I was at 106 and that was game. 106-9 FW. |
vs startrekccggeek:
Chris was playing Ferengi, and with all my MaH'nlv downloading, there was a certain amount of watching what the other was doing.
Although I've tested through this deck more than I've tested any other, I was still not-quite-with-it, so didn't quite do everything according to the plan.
Chris went first, so I DLd Q The Ref.
My Turn 2. I DLd K'mpec thru Sons Of Mogh as outlined above, but neglected to DL the others. I went and tried Seek Life Form, and got stopped by The Arsenal: Separated, and got stopped with both piles having exactly Cunning 27.
Next turn I did my downloading, and should have attempted Seek Life-Form with these guys, but went and did my second MaH first. I split my teams up expecting V'Ger, but hit a Barclay's upgraded by Shades Of Gray: Brutality. Kor, Col Worf, Kitrick, B'Elanna and N'Garen de-evolved. the next turn, the remaining crew didn't have quite enough Cunning to pass the Ferengi Infestation.
At this point, Chris started a mission attempt, with a 62nd Rule. The Clown fed his Bitter Medicine to the Navigation personnel, making sure that the Subspace Shock Wave would hit. The visitor throught the Temporal Micro-wormhole, Telek R'Mor, tragically lost his life, as did Mordoc. After a turn or two of recuperating, the Ferengi mustered up enough skills and duck tape to patch up the Subspace Fracture to score 5. He was sadly lacking in the skills he needed to complete the mission, though. My crew had limped back to the outpost, so I got the Anthro together for Duck Blind, and the 2 Blood Oath folk together to download Jadzia. I moved back to Seek Life Form my next turn, wiped out the Ferengi Infestation, and solved for 40 points.
Chris then moved to complete Kressari Rendezvous, ditched 3 weapons and scored 62nd Rule points to take himself to 55 points. I lost 10 points from the 62nd Rule.
I used an Isomagnetic Disintegrator to get back folk I'd lost.
Chris ditched a Space-Time Portal for a Brunt's Shuttle drop, but ran into problems with not being able to report the AU-icon folk, not having any more STPs on the table. He then moved to attempt Ferenginar. The Distracted By Thoughts Of Home/Firestorm combination was negated somewhat by Leeta's download of Kukalaka, and naturally couldn't get through the Pale Moonlight. I separated out my Blood Oath gang and sent the others to attempt A Good Day To Live, then lost 10 points to a Lack Of Preparation. Chris ditched the teddy bear to pass In The Pale Moonlight, and secured his homeworld to get to 85 points. He then ditched 3 Latinum and pushed up to 91 points. I then threw everyone at A Good Day To Live, passed the Lack of Prep, and lost 11 points to The Higher The Fewer. And then couldn't get through Dead End. 3 more ditched Latinum took Chris to 97. I headed out towards Investigate Alien Probe, but couldn't reach it in time. 3 more Latinum bought Chris the game.
He got 103 points, I ended up with 9, having completed a 40-point mission. I see the funny in this.
Good game, Chris, hope you do well in the rest of the tourney! |

Round 2 | | Ben Hosp | FL (-65) |
VS Ben Hosp(bhosp)
Ben was playing a Romulan Shuttle deck that destroyed Empok Nor on his second turn slowing my deck to a crawl. I got trapped at the homeworld facing total annihilation from an armada of Romulan ships if I left. I managed to solve Purchase Moon for 35 points before losing. FL 35-100. |

Round 3 | | Matthew Zinno | FL (-100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
VS Matt Zino (commdecker)
Matt was playing Dominion battle with lots of Founders and The Walls Have Ears to score extra points. He built up a good team and blew through my dilemmas for a 2 mission win. I didn't do much of anything this game before losing. FL 0-117 |
Round 3. FW against Chris Coyle, 117-0.
The draw engine in Chris' Ferengi deck got derailed early, when I pointed out that he was using too many non-Ferengi cards. The format only allows for 3, and he tried to use Valdore/Gareb/Drone to attack Empok Nor for 34th Rule draws. (An early draft of the format only said 3 personnel, and that's what he had based it on.) So the Drones were stuck in his hand, and he had to attack Empok with his Ferengi, which let me attack them. My own attacking was cut short, since he would benefit as well, with 3 draws (34th on Gaila for 3 GPL, turned to draws with FCE) to my 2. I did eliminate Brunt's Shuttle for 7 points, and his mission specialists at the outpost, but everyone else turtled at the homeworld for most of the game. He also got a Transport Inhibitor out, making it hard for me to beam aboard for TWHE points (though I did manage it 4 times).
For missions, I reported Lovok Founder and attempted to steal his Geological Survey, where I had seeded Vengenance Factor/Founder Secret. I thought that my Vengenance Factor there would fizzle against me, but he was prepared with a Yuta/Gatherers download, so I was stopped for a turn. I worried he would swoop in and pass the Secret with his Breen CRM, but he was having problems getting a ship (I crashed his 6th Rule at one point). So it was still there on my turn, and Lovok solved. Then I solved Construct Depot (passing, yes passing, a Personal Duty/FF combo), and tried Maquis Base for the win. There I ran into his Vengenance Factor/Founder Secret combo, at which he again downloaded Yuta/Gatherers. Again, it only delayed me, and I moved Hogan away for the extra points, total 117.

Round 4 | | Danny Nuttall | FW (+60) |
Danny Nuttall (nuttersuclan)
Danny was playing a Hirogen Armada deck that managed to blow up Empok Nor and my outpost, but I waited it out at my homeworld and built up a team and some cloaking devices to keep my ships from being blown up. Danny managed to solve 2 missions, but lost points to 62nd rule and Lack of Prep putting him at 40. I solved Purcase Moon with 62nd and Mission Specialist putting me at 45, then solved Kressari putting me at 90. Danny just happened to leave an empty hunting vessel in the AQ and I attacked it to get 6 GPL and 12 points for the win. FW 102-40 |
