Gq MotW 2 mission |
Introduction |
So, I tried reforming my last online tournament deck with some suggestions that Neil made. I used cure blight instead of explore extradimensional world, 3x Bashir and Minuet to save my key people. I took out some of the redundancy in the deck and tried to stream line it as much as possible. |

Round 1 | | Emily Coffee | FW (0) |
Emily was new to the game and hadn't played in a tournament yet. She was running an all NA deck, but she got off to a slow start. I open handed quark -> zefram turn 1 and then proceeded to play all my ships on the cheap. I plugged away at my missions with tallera and distant explorations for an easy 50 points. I swapped ships and then went on to do the same at cure blight for a nice two mission win. |

Round 2 | | Kevin Reitzel | FW (0) |
Cadets... man that can be a tough deck. He got set up quick, as expected, while I'm out playing 2 personnel a turn. He doesn't realize I'm playing TT and burns a few of his O!NH! on dilemmas that I don't have.
I make a key decision to go attempt my space mission without having gotten out the extra 10 points. He stacks several under because he's playing TT also, but doesn't manage to kill many thanks to bashir and an etu.
He completes his cadet mission and hands me 5 (yay), then he goes back to earth to regroup.
I finish my 45 point mission to put me at my even 50 and then start pinging away at cure blight.
He realizes he needs to win because time will be called soon, so he goes all in for restore errant moon. His ship isn't staffed (no extra 10 for him this time), so I kill as many as possible and let him walk.
On my turn, he's got 6 dilemmas under my cure blight. I pick my 6 and walk through it... this time for a full 50. |

Round 3 | | Joshua Sheets | FW (0)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
I honestly had never heard of this deck, but AC and kirk make playing TT a real pain. It didn't really matter though, as I didn't find TT or unexpected interruption until far too late in the game. It was terrible- I kept drawing doubles of dilemmas and getting a terrible mix of them.
Somehow I managed to get enough of my people out and going that between kira, centaur, worf and ent-j I could walk through my attempts without much effort. I'm still not exactly sure how I won. |
Nick was playing DS9 Gamma 40 pt missions. In the first couple turns, after playing Tellara and some Distant Explorations, it was obvious he was going to try for a 2 mission win. Ent-J, Worf and the Centaur made sure the extra attributes for those missions would not be a problem and even tho I got thru 2 missions first and was getting ready to try for number 3, he only needed 2 missions and got the win. |

Round 4 | | Nathan Miracle | ML (0)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
I was having nightmarish visions of paying 4 for characters only to have to replay them. Luckily for me, it was nomaquis. Unluckily for me, he captured kira, bounced worf then discarded him, sloaned ent-j and then filtered honor to prevent me from completing my missions. Also, croden doesn't have security. Totally misread him. It's funny, because Nathan said the same thing. "Huh, I can't complete. No security." "What? Doesn't croden have security?" "Nah, he doesn't" "That's odd, you'd think he'd have it, given that picture."
Anyhow, as we got down to time, he's multiteaming survey new world and I'm clawing away at cure blight. I make a bad play and instead of attempting with 3 teams of 6, I attempt with a team of 8 and a team of 9. The first one was a pseudo fake one, as I could complete if albino and kes sneak through, but the second team is the power house with bashir.
The reason I didn't include a 9 in the other team was that nathan only had 4 people on the table. If I had attempted with AU ezri and she had gotten stopped, nathan would have had the people necessary to attempt/complete SNW, since there were already a good deal under it.
So it goes to time in what would have been a photofinish by either one of us, given one more turn. |
I was surprised to be facing Nick after my so-so performance to this point. Clearly I had been paired up, since Nick was undefeated at this point. Nick ran a Deep Space 9 Gamma Quadrant deck using Distant Exploration and 40 point mission for a 2 mission win. I have built decks with Nick before, so I know he is fond of attribute boosting cards. Sure enough, he had U.S.S. Enterprise-J, U.S.S. Centaur and Worf. I blew up U.S.S. Enterprise-J with Luther Sloan, and luckily it took a while for Nick to draw into another one. Caretaker's "Guests" put Worf back on top of the deck, and Kenneth Dalby buried him. Valeris later put him in the discard pile. Benjamin Finney put Kira Nerys on top of the deck, where Garth of Izar (fueled by Product Placement) put her in the brig. At this point, Nick was Honor starved. He took a long time in completing his first mission, far longer than he had anticipated. That delay gave me enough time to complete two space missions for a total of 65 points. When Nick finally completed his space mission, he scored a whopping 60 points in one go. Time was soon called, though, and I managed to prevent him from completing his second mission. I pulled off a very close modified win at 65-60. |
