Introduction |
The Kevin Reitzel Bounty tournament was a tremendous success! I brought a new Romulan deck (not playtested) and an even newer dilemma pile... Tragic Turn. It was tragic in my hands... meaning I hate it. Still, it was great to see some old faces and our old playing venue. Although I did not get matched up against Kevin, I felt like it was me versus the world (San Diego Risa)! I had a great time, some lovely prizes were accumulated (Tampon James T. Kirk ahoy!) and Tribbles were later. Speaking of Tribbles, much thanks to Rogue Schindler for recovering my Tribbles deck from our last tournament! |

Round 1 | | Thomas V | ML (0) |
Thomas brought a fat Bajoran deck to the tournament and I started my first game with my new deck. I got off to a nice start and completed a space mission on my first attempt, but I was stalled later. I got a lot of bonus points from looking at Thomas' deck, however, after his first mission attempt (aboard the Phoenix!) it was all I could do to basically stave off the tide of Bajorans from his Assess Contamination. A TT pile just sucks and I regretted having not brought my traditional pile. Thomas managed to score both a planet and space mission in the end for a modified win. |

Round 2 | | Thomas Kamiura | FL (0) |
Bulldozed. Having played against Thomas' "Hi, I'm Davies! Durrrr!" deck before, I knew what I had to do to slow him. However, Deanna Troi showed up to Romulus and beat my hand down for ships. In the end, I finished the game with a mere 10 points... 5 of which from his Guinan. Sigh. The upside to this game for me was SLAUGHTERING all three Davies, Seytek, and Pulaski. Oh, and Dukat put them out of play too. I was still bulldozed though! |

Round 3 | | Matt Kirk | ML (0)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
This was by far my favorite game played of the day. Matt brought a very fascinating twist to a "Faux-qui" deck utilizing a "play to U.S.S. Defiant" mechanic. I loved it! Cal Hudson recruiting matching Defiant commanders to the Maquis was great. More so, Matt used all Neutral Zone missions. While I was able to hold him off long enough to score a mission before Biogenic Weapon hit, Matt nonetheless outscored me for the win, and I now have a new "Maquis Bastion" blog article idea. |
Joel is the most staunch advocate of the Maquis I know, so to play against his Romulans was a little bit weird and backwards. He got off to a slow start, playing lots of big cost Romulans, while I gathered my crew together. During the build-up, he successfully P&P'd me 4 times. I finally put together a crew with Captain's Log on the table, and halfway skidded through Joel's Tragic pile that was much thicker but more diverse than Chris' pile. Joel worked alternatively on Vulcan and Investigate Sighting until I dropped Biogenic on Vulcan, leaving him no option but to stay in space. Meanwhile, Joel used his Dukat to brutalize my discard pile, and his dilemmas stripped every Diplomacy I had. Digging deep, I found the Javert and Khan, trying it the hard way, and finishing Investigate Massacre to hit 70 points as time expired. |

Round 4 | | Bye | BY (0) |
Bye spent protecting the prize support table from small children dressed as princesses wearing Ninja Turtles masks. Seriously. Oh, and I fetched pizza for Carlos and Matt while shuffling my Tribbles deck. |
