That's a Total Grey Area Introduction Angling on simply earning a few more 1E / Online achievements, I jumped into the August sealed event with the hopes of avoiding going 0-3. Initially, I felt like my build had a few decent cards but overall probably sucked, though as luck would have it the design proved very different in practice. Round 1 Paddy Tye FW (+25) Playboy was piloting a creation with 4 outposts, and was ever patient in this late night / early morning game against an online 1E n00b. I mistakenly seeded all my combos in reverse order, though that somehow worked better than what was intended as he struggled to bust through the walls. FW 100-75. Round 2 Matt Kirk FW (+25) Mr. Charisma was looking to swipe my copy of Search for Weapons, but I luckily led off and dropped all the skills to solve it inside of the game's first 3 turns. Despite him nabbing Cloaked Mission right before I could steal it, Senior Staff Mission powered me through space for the win. FW 100-75. Round 3 Jeremy Huth FW (+100) Hardcore was attempting a Science based design, but lost his Ressikan Flute to a mission theft and never recovered since he couldn't draw a ship to save his life. Throwing away 2 extras to Static Warp Bubble felt like I was pouring salt in the wound, but he took it like a true champ. FW 100-0. Closing Thoughts It feels a bit surreal to have won an online event in only my second attempt, and as such I'm not sure I deserve the gold achievement for Online Victor. But as they say, even a blind squirrel can find an acorn once in a while and over this event I certainly looked and played the part.
