That Stupid English Voice... Was That Me? |
Introduction |
With Pick Your Poison Pairings returning for one night only, I elected to run the South Dakota gauntlet at King of the Ring's slipstream gig. Assuming the event would be my only 2E action on the weekend, I ran my refined Terok Nor creation and ended up being the only blemish on Big Kev's record over two days of play. |
|
Round 1 | | Shawn Colson | FW (+50) |
The Heartbreak Kid was piloting McCoy infused Cadets, but was tagged with Causal Recursion and WNOHGB on consecutive turns. Despite getting crunched by a Greater Needs in my first attempt, I eventually skated through Deliver Prisoners with 6 thanks to Damar's ability and then popped a Ruling Council for the win. FW 50-0. |

Round 2 | | Preston Holida | FW (+50) |
High Energy was trying out Bajoran, and had me nervous when he dropped Shakaar as his first card play. However, personnel battle was not meant to be in this abbreviated encounter, as I eliminated the threat with a Shocking Betrayal before Dukat and the dinosaurs earned a walk off at planet. FW 50-0. |

Round 3 | | Barry Windschitl | FW (+50)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
The Genius was rocking Relativity, and would have bagged this match if not for my timely use of Unexpected Difficulties. After connecting with a Necessary Execution and follow up Pivotal Destiny, I then dodged a Greater Needs via Noret'ikar before a late arriving Odo provided the Law to push me over the line. 50-0. |
The one bad match-up: Terok Nor, and this is one that Kris has been using for this format for some time. The deck worked well, but even weenie hate couldn't stop a person who could micro-team with Jemmies, and top it off with Ruling Councils. |
|
Round 4 | | Kevin Jaeger | FW (+50) |
Big Kev was dealing Maquis, but discarded a critical Biogenic Weapon early thanks to Davin. In spite of losing both a ship and Dukat to engagements, dumping Weyoun bought me the time to dig for Dukat’s stunt double, shed the second Biogenic, and fire a triple shot of Ruling Council to lead the Alliance on to victory. FW 50-0. |

Closing Thoughts |
In earning the Terok Nor Regular achievement by way of 1 Academy and 3 Slipstream tournaments, I have amassed a 19-1 record. While impressive, these numbers are noted primarily to showcase how powerful an often overlooked faction can be in a limited environment, provided players are willing to try out said formats. |
