And As it Approaches... I Can't Believe I'm Through |
Introduction |
Continuing my 1E renaissance, I crashed another MN Land OTF party on short notice with a Continuing Mission design crafted out of reprints, errata, and a heaping helping of The Goon's eBay leftovers. Despite my fear of getting run over by an assimilator, the Vulcan Stone of Gol kept the Borg from turning my guys into marmalade. |

Round 1 | | Ben Johnson | FW (+100) |
Mankind was experimenting with a Motion Pictures creation, but could not keep pace with my Let's See What's Out There fueled free reports and the Ferengi's dilemma busting prowess. After he was tagged with an Ankari "Spirits," Quark dialed in a PADD to skirt an Executive Authorization and we wrapped up early. FW 100-0. |

Round 2 | | Justin Kaufman | FW (+100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Crimson was orchestrating a Card / Rom combo, but was comparatively slow out of the gate as all my free report engines and LSWOT's came together turn 1. Losing The Trois midgame to Extradition lead to the Pi's destruction, and with Ankari "Spirits" holding him up I was able to coast through a Dead End for the win. FW 100-0. |
I was never able to get my personnel out at a good rate to catch up with the Ferengi deck Kris was playing. |
|
Round 3 | | Matthew Hayes | FW (+75) |
The Animal was administering 12-space Borg, and had me worried when he staffed a cube on his third turn thanks to multiple copies of Awaken. However, once The Trois powered through a Matriarchal Society, my Vulcan Stone of Gol wiped out his entire collective as they sought to assimilate Raid Ancient Burial Site. FW 100-25. |

Closing Thoughts |
It is amazing how last minute additions can dramatically alter the course of a tournament. Without Quark and his PADD, the first round result could have been different and had the Stone of Gol not been included simply for bonus points and achievements, it's very likely someone else earns the day's top honors. |
