You Know it's Gonna End This Way... the Chill Goes to the Bone |
Introduction |
December's official T2E league play weekend kicked off in the form of an Emissary release event which saw tables littered with sites for the first time in ages. Still relearning the game a bit myself, I stuck with TNG Klingon yet was able to get in on the action due to Illegitimate Leader's direct report function. |

Round 1 | | Robert Petersen | FW (+40) |
The Prodigy was attempting a Bajoran / Federation treaty design, but had trouble keeping pace with my play engines due to a lack of free reports and bonus draws. Forced into Plan B after giving up a pair of Gamma Quadrant missions, I destroyed two ships before earning a gun and the win at Search for Weapons. FW 100-60. |

Round 2 | | Justin Kaufman | FW (+100) |
Crimson was also co-chairing Bajoran / Federation, and stock piled personnel at DS9 before Dokar & Co. shot up the Shrine. With the station firmly under Klingon control and his deck left limping as a result, I nailed down the shutout victory at Navigate Argolis Cluster in this cordial affair. FW 100-0. |

Round 3 | | Dan Van Kampen | FW (+65)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Lethal Weapon was engineering Cardassian, but lost the station when the Sons of Soong took the Sisters of Duras on a double date at our conjoined Guest Quarters. Despite getting locked out of a mission due to Remat Detonator and Chula: The Dice, I pushed through Raid Ancient Burial Site to steal one at the wire. FW 100-35. |
This round was hilarious fun! And it was almost a mirror match as I came "this close" to bringing TNG Klingons myself! Only my love of DS9 and the desire, no: the NEED, to play with DS9 cards made me bring Cardies. We both had Guest Quarters which lead to Data and Lore having a double date with The Sisters of Duras for most of the game in a (now Klingon) Terok Nor. I still was able to make good use of my outpost and Central Command though.
The Klingons were just a touch to fast and aggressive for me to keep up though, especially with a little card peaking help from Guest Quarters. A couple of different decisions on my part and I think this could have been a one turn, down to the wire, game.
Never had I had so much fun losing. :-) |

Closing Thoughts |
Commandeering the station in every game notwithstanding, I found Illegit Klingon lacked the mission solving punch I had at my disposal with both Legit Klingon and Ferengi. As I continue my TNG era incident rotation, it will be interesting to see how the Feds and the Romulans hold up in the post Emissary environment. |
