Soon to Fill Our Lungs... the Hot Winds of Death |
Introduction |
Intent on closing out the Online League playoffs on a high note, I returned to a TOS design that I had previously won with for the final flight of the 2014 cyber season. In light of my prior success, I elected to once again chase the Kirkless achievement but would ultimately live to regret it. |
Round 1 | | Michael Van Breemen | FW (+30) |
The People's Champ was engineering Bajoran / Cardassian, and sent Sisko to detention early thanks to Evek. Free to abuse The Central Command from then on, he cruised through two missions before I cracked a Legacy at Investigate Cryosatellite and another at Secure Strategic Base to steal the win at the wire. FW 100-70. |

Round 2 | | Anastasia Kalashnikova | FW (+20) |
AK-47 was utilizing Voyager, but lost two copies of Tactical Disadvantage via Helen Noel before he could get rolling. After evenly trading missions, neither of us gave an inch for several turns until the dam finally broke at Locate Mysterious Contact in the face of a triple team led by Ambassador Gral. FW 100-80. |
Round 3 | | John Paul Veasey | FW (+100) |
Viscera was testing out Terok Nor, but found himself down two missions before he had even left his HQ as every random selection fell my way. Despite losing a bevy of dilemmas thanks to Tenuous Alliance, a well timed WNOHGB allowed Willard Decker and a small contingent of D-listers to wrap up the shutout. FW 100-0. |
Round 4 | | Oliver Thust | FL (-30) |
The Outlaw was kicking it with Bajoran, and eventually micro-teamed through Locate Celestial Temple courtesy of Tox Uthat. Gambling with dilemmas from that point forward, Issue of Trust and Intimidation slowed his progress before I was ultimately undone by a double shot of Unfair Terms and a Timescape. FL 100-70. |

Closing Thoughts |
Without a Kirk lurking around to keep my opponents honest, mission attempts were consistently thwarted by massive stoppers or outright walls. And while sheer speed carried me to victory in round 3, the self imposed handicap proved to be far more significant than I imagined throughout my other matches. |
