I Have Only One More Life to Take... Then it is Done |
Introduction |
With King of the Ring on the horizon, the assembled Frozen Chosen reconvened for the Great American Bash, a summer time tune up event at Fantasy Flight Event Center. Special thanks to The Genius for stepping in as special guest referee in my absence, and to The Prodigy for making it all legal. |

Round 1 | | Missed Game | MG (0) |
Delayed by a work outing kayaking the Mississippi River, I did not arrive until 15 minutes into Round 2. If we had been sanctioned already I likely would have sat out entirely, but as it was I ended up playing 2E in a swimsuit as our fourth man. |

Round 2 | | Robert Petersen | FW (+65)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
The Prodigy was experimenting with Maquis, and had me on the ropes as I had no event destruction for the Biogenic Weapon that unceremoniously landed on Brute Force early. With Plan B Mode in full effect, I slowed him down via WNOHGB long enough to chip my way through Seek Savior as time expired. FW 100-35. |
My dilemmas definetely helped out, with Tragic Turn getting me some nice kills on key personnel. But I could never get my events going. The best part of this game was seeing Tom Paris and Sakonna stopped over and over again. By far the best draw engine I had for the day. |

Round 3 | | Steve Nelson | FW (+70)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
The Full Nelson was playing Bajoran, and quickly breezed through space thanks to Natural Instincts. Despite constant interference from Paenol, I eventually snuck a second helping of The Promise through to clear an Occupational Hazards via a deceased Chang and nail down the win. FW 100-30. |
This game I made a big mistake seriously hurting my chances to win. I start by immediately playing Paenol/Tenari combo to stop every interupt he plays. My dilemma pile slows Kris down very effectively also. In one turn I complete one mission then am about to complete another, but I play Escape to save some peeps before I play Covenant to solve a mission. When Kris randomly makes the draw, I see Covenant go to the discard pile and I'm stalled at the mission for the next three turns never completing it. I also learn that when Paenol is on Hard Time, I can still use his ability since he is still in play. I could've stopped Kris's The Promise, but I didn't and he barely completes for the win. Closing Thoughts |
Outdoor commitments have really put a damper on my Second Edition interest of late, and my performance is undoubtedly suffering as a result. While I honestly don't feel I deserved to win my final match against such a hungry competitor, sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. |
