Now This Shark That Swims Alone... Whats it Called? |
Introduction |
Stage 2 of our local league kick-off event saw the entire group running with original Q's Tent's and not a referee card in sight. I was just hoping to add another mark towards the 10x Hirogen player achievement, but picked up the no-ref win medal in the process. |

Round 1 | | Justin Kaufman | FW (+100) |
Crimson was kicking it with Illegitimate Klingons, but was comparatively slow out of the gate as I was attempting on turn 2 and putting points on the board shortly thereafter. Blowing through a Founder's Secret with 6 Hirogen and solving both of my planets with a sole VIP was simply too much for him. FW 100-0. |

Round 2 | | Jason Tang | FW (+100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
JTG was experimenting with TNG Romulan, and quickly found a Dead End at Investigate Raid. With Kivas Fajo: Collector fueling my free plays and The Arsenal: Divided giving him fits, this game was uncharacteristically one sided. FW 100-0. |
Kris was in the DQ and enjoyed a Royal Treat(R) while I just got frozen and beat. LSWOT is sad at half strength, and my space combos lacked the necessary follow-up from a warbird lying in wait. I attempted all over the place ("crop dusting" in Kris's words) but got nowhere thanks to Dead End, timidness in the face of Founder's Secret, and stupidity in the face of The Arsenal: Divided. Kris wraps the game up with a 30-point planet, an 80-point planet, and a 35-point space mission.
For the next ~20 minutes we enjoy casual chit-chat and marvel at how long these games take. (Not that I can throw any stones.) |

Round 3 | | Robert Petersen | FW (+73) |
The Prodigy was dealing Bajoran / Romulan, but found a FLI / RAGS at his first mission and was in Plan B mode almost immediately. Once I solved Collect Omicron Particles he made a desperation move at Acquire Illicit Explosives that cost him a ship with crew, so the remainder of the match was academic. FW 100-27. |

Closing Thoughts |
Despite the general solitaire play found when I run Hirogen, the DQ personnel are unrivaled in their ability to smash through dilemmas. Often times, I assume I don't have the requirements only to find a missing skill buried half way through a skill box on a personnel that rarely if ever is in a given attempt. |
