Tournament Report - 2E

Dominion"You need a light just because You're So Afraid, Now Bow Down and learn to be a Good Slave!" 1.3
Introduction
Like with 1E, I haven't played constructed 2E since Last November in a Fargo League gig. I was going over what to play, and was leaning toward Equinox. Unfortunately for that deck, my Trek cards were so mis- sorted and overwhelmed by MTG cards that I couldn't find my previous try at a deck for that faction. I then decided to go with one of my decks that was pretty much take, check (to make sure it wasn't cannibalized for another pet project), and play. With recent errata that (once again) have hit Borg, I decided that I needed to retool that deck before taking it out for another run. I also had 5-space Voyager and Contingent Dominion handy. Dominion was more intact, and something I rather liked playing, so I went with that.

Round 1RomulanJustin KaufmanFW (+30)
Round one had me facing Justin, who was piloting a GQ Romulan deck. We built up our forces pretty fast, but Justin was hanging back longer to get a few more heavy hitters. I got out and started getting hit with the BigKillz 8-costers, but was able to get the right players back out to lose too much momentum. Meanwhile, Justin was going without The Die is Cast until later in the game, and this was what allowed me to hold him from some quick missions, even with "The Tool" Reklar out. Quite a bit of Crippling Strikes left his ships mired in place once he moving about, and bought me needed time. The Dominion prevailed with it's point-loss shenanigans, and various cheatery.

Round 2MaquisSteve NelsonMW (+15)View opponent's Report
Like So many games against Steve, this came down to quite a few instances of me hitting "That One Guy!". He was lacking on needed counters for CS early, and I was able to repeatedly recycle them as he didn't draw GreasyDukat at all this game. This was a Real back and forth game, and came down to him Secret ID'ing my away team, allowing me to bring in Odo (My Last Law to get around SNW), and him selecting Odo for a dilemma at a turning point while attemtping Toga Four-ga (Odo gives you five points, and my HQ taketh them away). The game ended with me getting a lucky pick that kept him from pulling ahead in points, and allowing me a Close Mod Win.

Round 3Jason TangFW (+100)
Jason was borrowing a Romulan deck from Steve, and was not having much luck with it (that, and no doubt getting acquainted with the well-honed Steve shenanigans). He's throwing BigKillz at me during missions, but I am able to quickly pull ahead and get a win.

Closing Thoughts
Again, this shows that one can be away from the game for a long period of time, but once you know how to ride a bicycle in the universe, you can pretty much get right back on and make tracks.
