"I'll just be strong and keep knowing That now I will overtake you" V1.1 |
Introduction |
I modified my Klingon deck from last week to try for another achievement win, but, alas, it was for naught. |
|
Round 1 | | Kevin Jaeger | FL (-100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
This was a blow-out. Kevin got an attack fleet out quickly, and damaged one of my outposts, then stole my 40-point mission. |
Yay for no Klingon attack restrictions. Barry tried to solve his sleeper ship quickly before I could steal it. Blood oath d/l ships directly to the location allowed me to overwhelm barry then steal the mission anyway. Ran to the mq to finish up doing 3 missions following a 28 point thtf loss. Genesis device 0-1. |

Round 2 | | James Heaney | FL (-30)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
This game was a Little closer, and James' report sums it up nicely. I got two missions, and tried to run the game out by getting YAaM late. Of course, he saw my weakest late-game combo under his mission two, and got that to lock it up. He had a Lot of shuttle pods out... |
Barry was doing a Legit Klingons deck. Play dudes, solve missions. Be armed in case of bad guys. As classic as it is classy. I had figured out how to play my deck a bit better than before -- we conducted some services to get rid of the crap guys -- and they turned out to be pretty good at dilemma-busting. And my dilemmas, again, did a good job: a Plague Ship/Medical Crisis combo wiped Barry's team and bought me a few turns late in the game.
We solved three in the Gamma Quadrant for 95 (following a 10-point loss from Higher/Fewer). I raced back to file my Explore Gamma Quadrant points, but Barry managed to get Q-The-Ref You Are A Monument out JUST in time to stop me from winning at 100 points. I eyed Explore Black Cluster, but I didn't need points; I just needed a solve. So I figured Barry had left a worse combo under Investigate Anomaly II (he'd certainly left fewer cards!) and went there instead. Barry was two MEDICAL away from winning the game, but I risked waiting a turn for another ship to B-team my mission first (in case of Cytherians). Turned out, nothing to worry about: I saw an Edo Probe, had no problem losing the points (didn't need 'em!), then passed Dead End for the full win. |

Round 3 | | Jason Tang | FL (-60) |
Another route, I lost this one by 60 points. Two hits from Cytherians and two STP returns made me happy he didn't have a Ref pile handy. At the end, I had at Least 20 cards in my hand. |

Closing Thoughts |
I think I'll just put this deck back to it's last configuration, and leave Hollander Chasing for another time. I should also beef up some dilemma combos for the next (Big) gig. |
