[OTF] Restrained Remains |
Introduction |
I used the WCT as a way of testing a deck for nationals. I'd have the Ferengi Commerce/Transport Inhibitor lock-out idea for some time, and I noticed one of the Dillons had tried it at worlds with some degree of success. Whilst it turned out to be a bit too fragile to be relied upon, it was a fun deck to play and I learnt lots about Ferengi in time to play them properly at nationals! |

Round 1 | | Andreas Limmer | FL (-60) |
Lesson 1: If your opponent is in the DQ, it's hard to replace the draws and points from FMO and be competitive still.
Even though Nava needed 140 points to win, his excellent Hiro/Holo deck combined 'requesting the item' with Hirogen skill monsters in order to swiftly batter through my dilemmas. I actually scored a missions first, getting 40 points on my third turn, but Ferengi Ingenuity and Access denied held me off at my next attempt and Friendly Fire stalled me at another. In the mean time, Karr battered me. |

Round 2 | | Ben Hosp | FW (+35) |
An awesome game! Ben was using the Pagh and Officer Exchange program to add more bonus points to his arsenal, as well as a way of attacking the Ferengi in the mirror. Sure enough, his Pagh managed to trap my Ferengi Shuttle and make mince meat of it, whilst I quickly ;locked' out three planets using Transport Inhibitors. It was then a game of cat and mouse and we chansed each other to no avail, whilst occasionally chipping away at the dilemma piles under each mission. Ben broke my lock at one planet by using a hidden 'Captured' card (nicely done) but my dilemma combos there still held him at bay. Not sure how it progressed from here, but I diverted all of my resources into solving and made it to 100 soon after...right before Ben was about to accomplish the same feat! |

Round 3 | | Christopher Coyle | FW (+65) |
Chris's DQ Feds had a few significant problems in seeding. He tried to use a 2e mission which relocated DQ personnel to a ship in the AQ once it was complete, but later admitted he had no AQ ship to actually do this! Thus, he was stuck with the option of gaining 140 points from just 5 missions in the DQ.
Although I nothing to fire upon for points or draws, I managed to get an early TTT out to make up for the latter, whilst clearning dilemmas at a faster rate than Chris was able too. Ferengi Ambush and Hidden Fighter gave me some presence in the DQ, and enough interference to put Chris's deck off its stride whilst I ground out the points. |

Round 4 | | Bye | BY (0) |
Scheduled to play Matt Kirk who couldn't make it in the end and conceded the round. It was then inputted as a missed game, which is quite frustrating! |

Closing Thoughts |
Ferengi are fun! |
