RomulanTK Romulan v1.0
Introduction
A pretty modern Romulan deck featuring Donatra, The Viceroy, Karina and Ruwon. P&P/Guys were going strong every game. Meta choices included Deep Hatred, Dreamers and Dukat. Casual Recursion was included just to see if it would hit with the Phoenix. In retrospect, the A-team worked out well, Deep Hatred killed three strong strategies, Dreamer And The Dream was effective in 3 of the 4 games and Dukat was front and center. I went second in all four of my games which allowed me to use Historical Research every game.

Round 1BajoranTNGDS9Rogue ShindlerFW (+45)
Rogue was playing 3 headquarters for some El Presidente abuse coupled with Flaw In The Plan to kill his own people so he could replay them. I dropped a Deep Hatred the subsequent turn which shut that down. Dukat started working his discard pile so he could not retrieve personnel with Kira. Other than that, the Romulan A-team managed to solve three missions for the FW.

Round 2Terok NorMatt KirkFW (+5)
Matt was playing Terok Nor. Off the bat I had a hunch he was going to play Ruling Council. I felt prepared with all the meta choices I had made during deck design. We basically both sat there for 40 minutes building up while he used his Dukat to kill almost every event I threw down filling his discard pile quite quickly with Terok Nor personnel. I drop a Dukat to start eating his discard pile. He then attempts his Kressari and hits a Dreamer pitching his hand which contained two copies of Ruling Council. Next turn I drop a Deep Hatred removing the first two in the discard pile and the third one in his deck. I was holding a copy of A Few Minor Diffulculties for most of the game which I was going to play to nerf his ship, but decided he would probably just Dukat it. He solves his first mission using Telle very effectively. I come back and solve my first mission with the A-team. We both deck. I had 5 extra points from a well timed P&P so the game ended 40-35 for a FW. It was close, if I would have attempted again, I would have hit his Back To Basics. I was pretty rattled this game for some reason, but Matt was patient and helped me to calm down. Jedi Mind tricks.

Round 3CardassianFerengiCharlie PlaineFW (+65)
Going into this, both Chairman Charlie and I were undefeated. Chairman Charlie was playing the Cardassian ship team with Ferengi Brunt and Quark mixed in to replay Tain. I do have to cut Chairman Charlie some slack because he was playing more than just Brunt so that was cool. He was faster than me, so he got to space first. First dilemma, Casual Recursion. Chairman Charlie needs another 10 points to win. I think I try to hit him next with a Dreamer (smelling Central Commands in his hand) and something else, but he has to play two Central Commands to duck around Dreamer and solve. In doing so, he had to dump 6 cards off the top of his deck. In a way I thought it was fair because I would be able to eat those cards with Dukat, but if I didn’t get to them fast enough, it would hurt me when I would try to use Caretaker’s Guests. I drop the Deep Hatred and smoke his Central Commands. I remember the A-team having a pretty easy time at my first mission and I also remember only having 2-3 events out all game. Charlie then heads off to his second mission, attempts, gets tagged by a Dreamer and is stopped. Dumps his hand which included his Brunt and Dukat eats it. I fly over to Commandeer Prototype and fail. Chairman Charlie tries to attempt his second mission again, using Telle again to switch out my Stripped Down for my Dreamer which he hit on a previous attempt. He gets stopped on the next dilemma and has to throw his hand under his draw deck (Optimism was out). I re-attempt Commandeer Prototype and solve it, downloading the Phoenix. At this point Chairman Charlie realizes that he would need 120 points to win and quits giving me the FW. Charman Charlie commented his deck could only get to 110 points.

Round 4StarfleetJohnny HolevaTT (0)
Quite the chess match here. Johnny was playing a 2 mission Mirror Starfleet deck that plays three copies of At What Cost and Enterprise J to jump ahead and easily solve his missions. We both start a little slowly. Johnny gets out first and heads to space. I decide to throw a Pitching In > 1 cost stopper > WNOHGB combo instead of a In Development > WNOHGB. I felt like this play took the MW from my hands. Johnny manages to duck the WNOHGB and solve the first mission bringing him to 60 points (+10 from Earth). At this point, I’m at 20 from bonus points. I eventually get the A-team to the first mission and solve it after a few attempts. 60-55. We both maneuver a bit. I chew on his discard pile with Dukat, he keeps dumping people into play. He Grav Plating Traps one of my events. I drop Deep Hatred the next turn, removing the only other copy he had. I go out and attempt Commandeer Prototype, and get hit by his copy of WNOHGB. On Johnny’s turn, time is called so he gets a final attempt and fails to solve the mission. Johnny went first so I get my final turn. The majority of my personnel are still sitting on WNOHGB, so there is nothing left to do except P&P him for 5 points to tie up the game 60-60 for a true tie. Dreamer didn’t hit this game because of his mirror ship. Casual Recursion and the Phoenix did not matter either. Dukat came through as did Deep Hatred.
