Introduction |
After Gen Con last weekend, I was a little weary of playing more Trek this weekend. My wife was going clothes shopping though so I went anyway since I had some free time. I just wanted to have fun so I bought a TOS/DS9 deck to score some achievements. |

Round 1 | | Jason Beyer | ML (-60) |
Jason's kill pile went through my personnel like shit through a goose. I just couldn't complete anything with the people that survived. |

Round 2 | | Brian Leonard | FW (+100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Brian was having ship problems. Compound that with Ro Laren visiting my Holding Cell and back to back Moral Choices. It became a real lockout. I was able to get out pretty fast and get though my missions the way I planned. |
Another loss... |

Round 3 | | Al Schaefer | FL (-35)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
I thought I had this one, but of course, I screw it up. Al was having major problems drawing into anything so I was able to get out to an early lead. Once he did get Quintessence and Unyielding out, I had two missions completed and just needed to get Risa Shore Leave done. This is where I screwed up. I chose Risa just because you can't use TCS on it, but I forgot that while I was playing and kept attempting with 6 people. Al was able to get great dilemma draws and lucky random selections that gave him enough time to win the game. If I had gone with 5 people in my last turn, I would have won. |
Michael was playing a real slick dual HQ deck with bonus points for the win. He got off to a great start and I was having serious issues just getting off the ground. No Third, Fourth, or Quintessence until after he had finished his first mission, and he had The Queen on Holding Cell, and he got In Development + WNOHGB to go off on my first space mission. I really thought he was going to get his first win against me today and was just ready to give up, but I figured it was so close to the end that I would just play it out. My dilemma pile must have heard my mental lamenting and while I was down 2 missions to none, my dilemmas really started clicking and I was able to get another 4 turns that I didn't think I was going to get. I that time I got Quintessence x2, Unyielding x2, Two of Nine'd the Holding Cell to get the Queen back and just plain gave Michael more Brog than he could handle. I pulled out the win under time and escaped my first loss to Michael. Probably THE worst start I've ever had with this Borg deck ever, but by FAR the best finish I've ever had. |

Closing Thoughts |
I probably should have skipped out on this tournament since I was still tired from last week. Stupid mistakes that cost me games always piss me off and leave me in a horrible mood. |
