ID Draft 2/23/14 |
Introduction |
After my less than memorable performance in 1E the day before, I was looking forward to some 2E. We were playing ID Draft with TNG packs. My drafting went fairly well with quality pulls of the Enterprise-D with matching commander Beverly, skill horse Richard Castillo, and a multi-game-winning Legacy. |
|
Round 1 | | Brian Leonard | FW (+35) |
Due to a perfectly played "Oh No!" from Brian, I had to play for 100 points instead of the format's 70 point limit. The only thing keeping me in this game was the fact that Brian attempted Commandeer Prototype first which made him complete 3 missions as well. Luckily, my mass attempts in space were able to get through and get the win while my multiple Legacy plays slowed Brian down a lot. |

Round 2 | | Maggie Geppert | FL (-40)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Everyone could tell that Maggie was definitely frustrated in her first game but I didnt feel bad for her after this one. Every single random pull she made against me either sent a mission skill back to hand or to the bottom of the deck. This fact was made even worse because I had a useless Escape in hand since my opening 7 cards. |
I got very lucky in how my dilemmas worked. Apparently Mike had drafted an escape, but all my dilemmas returned people to the deck or hand, so he never got to use it. I put in a 45 point planet mission so I could do the 2-mission win. |

Round 3 | | Corbin Johnson | FW (+30) |
Honestly, I have to say that this win was based on the god hand that I was dealt to start the game. The Ent-D, Bev, Castillo, Riker, and three 2 costers sped me out and attempting early. With all that to start, I ended up with a massive crew that was able to complete my second mission in one attempt. |

Closing Thoughts |
There are just too many things wrong with ID Draft. It is not really a fun format. We all talked about it between rounds and there are a lot of things missing, unbalanced, and unclear. All of those combine to a make a frustrating play experience. I think I will stay home next time we play this. |
